    I'm now an atheist.

Having done a lot of research into both sides I have come to the conclusion that theism is fundamentally rooted in wishful thinking. One has to want to believe in God to accept the arguments theists put forth for God's existence. When one dispassionately examines the arguments for both sides, atheism is the more reasonable and logical position.

I think the God of the Old Testament comes off like a petulant selfish attention seeking child who

    1) Took his eye off the ball in the Garden of Eden & let a snake who in my opinion only told a half truth because God said"on the day you eat the fruit you will positively die" Satan said" In the the day you eat you won't die" Neither told the whole truth because Adam & Eve didnt die for nearly a thousand years.Anyway he God punished every human since for the sins of one couple.

    2) God took his eye off the ball again when some of his Angels fancied a peice of P**sy. So what did God do he punished every human & living thing on earth with the flood.

    3) The humans at Babylon started building the tower of Babel and said we will become like gods & touch the heavens. Once again God gets a bit miffed & changes lanquages.

In fact the the list is endless, in the old testament God gets miffed & then its let the genocide begin. Now the whole David & Bathsheba thing is one that I think proves everything Ive said previously King David sees bathsheba gives her her one, Murders her husband gets her pregnant. So what does God do? Does he execute these two vile sinners with David the most culpable as he is King & gods right hand man? No he kills the innocent Baby.

Don't get me started on the Job saga where god allows the death of his family over a bet with Satan.

Then of course the New Testament were the old testament god gets a personality change & becomes all meek & mild through Jesus.

Now of course he IE God has done sweet F.A for over 2000 years while telling us to be patient watching millions upon millions of our fellow humans die and suffer at the hands of the eternal bad guy Satan while God holds his coat while "saying if it gets too nasty I will intervene" .

I'm an evidentialist. If the evidence is not strong enough I won't believe it. Therefore I don't believe in ancient claims of miracles nor in a personal, intervening 'God'.

My faith is in the Father of Christ, revealed to us through Christ, who is His Truth.

If everyone in the past had known the Truth and gotten everything right... then what need would there have been to send a Teacher who is the Truth?

The bible is not the image or truth or word of God... but it does point and witness to the one who IS the image and Truth and Word of God.

I am/have a spirit... and having union with the Spirit (Christ)... and so yes, I am spiritual.

    Peace to you,

    tammy

Tammy, if you don't believe the Bible is truth then you've sawn off the very branch you are sitting on. If you reject the Bible as truth then you cannot trust anything written about Jesus. Therefore you must be getting your 'witness' about Jesus from some other mystical source? What is this 'spirit' you are mystically having 'union with' Tammy? Are you a spirit-medium?

My 7 year old daughter was asked at end of class on friday to put her hands together and recite the lords prayer along with the rest of the tykes. She puts her hand up and asks the teacher "who is god?" The teacher replied "god is what you want god to be" So she tells the teacher " ok, i'll be praying to spongebob then"

    god. Who's he again?....

Yadda, are you really going to go through this again? The whole "Spirit-medium!" "Witch!" routine? Some of you guys really do like to form and maintain your band-wagons. I've shown that enough people in union with Christ (who IS the Spirit)... heard His voice, and that He even SAID that they WOULD. There is not a single person who has attempted to argue with that, (it cannot BE argued with, at least not according to Christ and what is written, and love), but rather it is just fall back on a timeless accusation against a woman (or man, as they did say that Christ had a demon when they did not like what he said, and they did say that Paul was mad, when they did not like what he said).

A spirit medium communes with the dead/acts as intermediary between the living and the dead. You go ahead and look that up in various dictionaries.

The bible is a witness, and it is not one single book. How can THE Truth... be the bible, and Christ, at the same time? They are not the same thing. It does not mean the bible does not have truths in it. Doesn't mean that it is unreliable... though it is not perfect; but even if you were to take the bible as a whole... the truth that it reveals (points toward/ends with/the conclusion of it all)... is Christ.

Evolution is not incorrect just because some scientists/science books were incomplete/contained mistakes and inaccuracies at the time they were written.

    Peace,

    tammy

A spirit medium communes with the dead/acts as intermediary between the living and the dead. - Tammy

A spirit medium claims to receive messages from somebody who has died but who is alive in the spirit.

You claim to receive messages from somebody who has died but who is alive in the spirit.

Therefore by any sensible definition you are a spirit medium.

BUT THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT YOU!
