Hi mike, I am not an apostate, but I do think to OP is right in saying that the GB should not be advocationg poverty while they live in luxury. If we just look at the ipad angle, they want us all to get expensive elctronic goods. so printing an be reduced. But in the next breath they have told pioneers to reduce the amount of possesions they have.
It's convoluted, I accept this.

In order for Jesus to be lord of the sabbath ( and not a lier ) the 1000 year reign WOULD HAVE TO BE ( start in 1975 ) Is that plain enough for you ?

Considering the individuals in the Writing Department™ have *everything* provided for them, I agree that it's incredibly nervy of them to try to lecture Pioneers™ about enjoying the material things they have - and likely scrimped and saved for - especially when most of them followed the Writing Department™'s advice to stay away from higher education in order to enjoy a better standard of living.
There's the thing scully, it's not a lecture, it's just a friendly reminder. They didn't lecture. Besides everyone on the writing department are pioneers and so are the GB. They have to be. It's required.

'Back to the OP, I think generally there is a concensus that the GB own everything and live high on the hog. i don't think this is really true. The horde cash yes, but then again so does Apple. The GB members live in similar quarters as the rest of the bunch. They drive the same crappy Crown Vics that alot of companys who provide cars own. Its not a luxurious lifestyle.
Except Apple is a capitalist, tax paying employer that rightly earns the profits throughselling and developing a product. Apple then gives back to the community that supports it in many very generous monetary ways. The GB does no such thing ( unless you consider the WT corperation earning profits for developing and selling literature and misleading man made hopes, then not giving back anything except d2d literature and bible studies to convert people wwhich then = more manpower to earn more $), yet they want for nothing. Which in my definition, IS luxury. They worry for nothing, all expesinses are paid. they travel extensivly, they have massive admirers, celebrity status. The followers hang on thier every word and obey everything they say. or approve of in writing. Pretty heady for anyone. Apple maintaines cash to hedge against a market turn down. What about the WT? hedging against lawsuits maybe? Hmmm
Brother Mike, I noticed you've gotten a free pass and not been called out as being apostate for posting on an apostate site. Does that make you feel welcome? Wary? Clearly, if you're a JW on paper yours is superior to JW thinking if you can handle the seduction of making choices for yourself, defying strident dictates of 8 pasty suits in some state in the north east, and even swearing!, and then hermetically sealing off this secret as you go back to your suit, tie, clean shave, fake smiles, and all the accoutrements. If you're that smart to beat the GB, are you smart enough to make dwelling UNDER the GB that palatable? Can you sell a freezer to an eskimo?

The watchtower bible tract society uses all of it donations for the worldwide work and for printing and translating lit inure, and gives it away free of charge. That comment is just flat out ridiculous nonjwspouse
They might be classified as "pioneers", but you can bet your sweet ass that NONE of them are out knocking on doors for 70 hrs a month, and definitely not the almighty 8, even though thats what they "encourage" the plebian rank-and-file to do....
