I worked for National Starch and Chemical, was owned by Unilever until 1994 / 5 and was bought by ICI.

"O" levels were the proper exams before the travesty of the GCSE was imposed at the end of secondary education .

i understood, thought that christians have faith in the good news about christ. his death and resurrection as the means of our salvation. i thought we had faith in the good news of the kingdom. Matthew 24:14. which i thought was the establishment of God's Kingdom in 1914 at the end of the gentile times. at this time the faithful slave, the modern day Ezekiel was chosen to do this preaching work.

having faith i felt i had no option than to pioneer or else as a young person it would show i lacked faith unless there was some good reason not too.

so when i fulfilled the legal requirement in the USA of attending school i left at 16 and pioneered.

Did Jehovah provide? well i'm still here. i've never been out of work. i raised kids and they went to university. i have worked in somewhat the field i wanted to but i know i could have done better.

but for me it was about faith in what i preached.

I've never pioneered and never will! It never appealed to me...I know folks who did just what you did, funds are drying up...can't get a job, hiding behind a smile like everything is ok....what a shame!

Angus, how dare you berate the GCSE, I thought you were left wing? The tories are trying to bring back the old system of no course work at the moment.

O levels are nonsense exams, everyone cramed in info to pass the exam and then promptly forgot everything two weeks later. I know you have said this to me.

    Ucantnome,

So in all in all for you pioneering was a blessing and you believe it was Jehovah that provided do you?

It was disgraceful for him to quit his job like that. All he had to do was phone in and say he quit. Typical JW not caring if worldly management might be worried about what might have happened to this guy, or if they will have to arrange work coverage for him. In my work other people would be forced to work 16 hour days because this irresponsible twerp didn't call in so a shift change could be made where his job was covered by someone working normal hours.

I was still relatively young with 2 kids and had a great high paying job, when a zealous JW elder tried to talk me into quitting my job. I thought this is f'n nuts.

I thought you were left wing?

Where did you get that idea from? I am no-wing - none of the above.

I saw young men quit hard to get technician jobs to 'pioneer'. Now here is a couple of things. One they lasted about 6-9 months before they left it and went looking for and found some crap job. One was later Df. One of the elders who was part of the talk fest at the time was later Df.

The second point is this. How come it is the young who are pushed into 'pioneering' while the pushers are working still enjoying their cars, boats and holidays and not cleaning windows either. This use of the young is much like that other world religion that convinces its young that blowing themselves to bits is a good idea. You never hear of an older member of that religion doing the human bomb thing.

and, How many times have i read of a couple who have pioneered for years but had to give it away as one of them suffered some massive health failure. Is this poor eating? No medication? refusal to seek medical care? Lousy living conditions?

As a group i see that jw are the unhealthiest of people anyway and trying to live/eat on a straw budget makes their situation worse. 'food' 4 thought.

Started working right out of high school, age 16. Never went to college, since the only thing I was ever told was 'you're going to be a housemom anyway', so my goal was to find a suitable JW-husband ASAP and get away from the suffocating, manipulative and abusive behaviour of my parents. So I married when I was 18 and quit working a couple of weeks before our first child was born. I was 20 then. I was a stay-at-home mom for thirteen years and when I wanted to have a job again my self esteem was very low, so I took a job as a cashier with Aldi's. I just thought I wouldn't be good enough to do anything else.

At the moment I'm learning to be a hypnotherapist.

I agree, he just wanted an excuse to quit, and then give credit to the BOrg. The way he did it was unchristian and thoughtless. He did not apply Matt 7.12. Kate xx

sorry cantleave, something you said made me think you were labour, forgotten now. Apologies for jumping to conclusions. BTW, I have sent you an email. Sam xx
