    Hi @ Bungi Bill,

You could tell them that, but there are over anxious & overly zealous, & there is nothing you can do to stop them...So before they become a burden on the congregation, at least give them a bit, I said a bit of advise....Count the cost...don't quit work to be a Pioneer, if you can't afford it or to think the Society or the friends will help support you because you think that they think...how magnificent they are. But you are correct. I am a witness & know the truth about the truth. I like my congregation and don't get involved with the hall politics, or at least I try. Thanks

KATE- Good thread. I didn't QUIT my job but I gave up a college education at the pushing of my elder dad to live up to the WT " status quo " and pioneeer. I've been self employed for over 30 years now- but I'm finally pursuing other interests like playing music and antique dealing in art to accomodate my main career so the WT Society will not have robbed me of ALL my interests as the years go by. It's good that you are seeing this and acknowledge that you won't let the WT Society rob you of a career anymore. This criminal cult stole many of our lives and personally I'll never let them steal my time away again, ever

    Bungi Bill,

Yes to agree to maybe dissagree...I like the sites but I don't want to debate anyone, because I don't know everything, but I do know what I see at the hall...I was talking to someone at work today & they said, those that can't do, teach...ever notice that witnesses can tell you what to do, but do they do it...NOT. Just my observation for today. I'm not ready for a bible study as of yet, still working on my hang nails..Be Well,

Always hated that quote 'those that can't do, teach.' Tell that to Tony Roache, very successful Australian tennis player who coached Ivan Lendl to huge success. Or Lendl hinself, also a successful player, six Grand Slam titles to his name, and the man some consider responsible as a coach for Andy Murray being the first Brit to win Wimbledon since Fred Perry in I think it was 1936? What is this with the 'can't do, so teach mantra?' If you can teach it you need to be very good at it, right? Or am I getting it wrong?

    The dog1,

I think this would only apply to those who can't change nor do they want to, because they don't think anything is wrong with them. They become a bible student, hurry-up & get baptized then want a bible student themselves because they haven't changed one thing about themselves. They just changed how they dressed, how neatly they keep their literature and bible...speak in a sweet syrupy voice & viola, they are holier than anyone. So they don't take a look at themselves so they teach, because they can't do what they preach so they find helpless folks to try to change them & meanwhile the bible conductor still has some big hang nails...when you talk to a witness they always say to cover their tails...well, we are imperfect, or a work in progress or I'm still working on that, but when you have a hang nail they are the first to tell you what to do that they don't practice. Folks that teach folks that really want them to succeed is different, many teachers love to teach because they appreciate the information they have learned & don't mind passing it along. But in religion it's a horse of a different color. No you are not wrong but I was just giving another side of teaching...again if you are right, if you can teach it you need to be very good at it...I would hope so, but not always the case...I can solve others problems, but my problems, I at times are too close to it to figure it..so I go around fixing other folks problems, 'cept my own.

    thedog1,

Thanks for your post, did you give up a career for the Kingdom like me? What do you think of the brother in the article? Do you think he applied Matt 7.12 when he quit?

Sam, as to your question as to whether i gave up a career for the kingdom, I have to say that I didn't. I have done so many different types of work over the years, none of which I really minded, so long as I could keep my head above water and provide for my wife and myself. Window cleaning, having my own business, and now teaching, which I enjoy immensely. I always had an interest in writing but never had the time to develop it. I have been trying to write a book, mostly personal experience of living in a foreign country for a number of years, but very slow process. That is one of the main things I did not pursue because I was very busy with congregational activities. The brother in the article does seem to be maybe acting out of self-interest if he hated his job. Now he seems to have found another then it has worked out ok for him, but to take a flyer and hope for the best with young children to support seems foolish. There is only myself and my wife in our family and even at that I would not just up and leave a job to pioneer in a blind faith sort of way. The scriptural obligation is for a man to take care of his wife and family, and providing he is not doing something unscriptural, then he should do his very best to support them financially. We are constantly encouraged to go and imitate the ant and his wise ways in preparing for the future in the book of Proverbs. We don't need to be over the top about it, just sensible to provide for unexpected twists and turns. Some bros I know have made foolish decisions and then sometimes expect the cong to provide for them. Personally we can of course do what we can, but an individual's own responsibility is still always there.
