You're correct I haven't been on this board long. I would just expect common sense to prevail. Most of us have been bound by an intolerant religion in one way or another. I guess I think blasting someone's beliefs with a preconcieved notion that everyone should agree with you is just plain ignorant.

Dear Lord, please save me from your followers.

Hiya, Dobby. As one or two other people here have said, "God" isn't an all or nothing deal. There are many possibilities besides just Christian and Atheist. You just have to be willing to look deeply into your own soul and figure out what YOU believe, not what your fears, other people or society in general tell you that you should believe, and put that into practice. Not as easy as accepting beliefs in a neat little premade package, I know, but infinitely more rewarding.

    Good luck,

    *Rochelle.

BTW, the name makes me wonder... are you a Harry Potter fan?

LOL - you mean like you're trying to do, regarding the bible?
Don't take it personally, but everyone has baggage and preconceptions.
If you are honest you will find that you are just as subject to them.

Personally I try to take the view that everyone is entitled to their opinion and viewpoint and NOBODY has absolute truth in their grasp.
Some of the few things I wax lyrical about include my personal relationship with Christ. If someone doesn't believe that is real, that's not my problem.

Wishing you all the best on the road of life, that we all travel.
Hope that dobby finds what he's looking for, too.

    gsx1138,

I think after you have been here a while you will realize that it is not a one sided attack. I do not attack people personally, calling them ignorant, stupid, pea brains, etc. etc. and I do not practice intolerance.

Hi Dobby, even before I started studying with the JW's I had faith in God & Jesus. When I started studying I was thinking "right on" the truth, now I can get to know God even better. But then I began having doubts & started asking questions. Boy can those JW's be evasive, so I started doing my own research. That's how I can across this board. I also came across some things I hadn't been told about, one of them being the (8?)failed predictions by the WTS about the "end of times" and after looking into the scriptures about FALSE PROPHESY. I have decided that this organization is also based on lies. But I haven't lost my Faith in the Father or the sacrifice of his life that Jesus made to save us from our sins. I still believe that one day there will be a "New Heavens" and a "New Earth" that the meek shall inherit :)

    Hi UnclePenn,

Sorry, but as far as I can see humanity was not changed by this event 2000 years ago any more than it was by works of Mohamed, Joseph Smith, Loa Tzu, Confusious, or the Buddha. Human beings who are trained under Christianity have proven over & over again that they are just as capable of the same brutality as any other religion or philosophy. Jesus has never returned in 2000 years as he promised. His apostles all grew old and died waiting for his promised return in their lifetimes. You are a Christian so you block out these facts and this is understandable. I'm sure you are a nice and well intentioned person but you have not presented any evidence for your claims. How can I be expected to have blind faith in these things when all the evidence around me says it is untrue?

You are a Christian because you were born into a Christian culture not because you freely chose it as otherwise Christianity would be equally chosen by people around the world instead of by culture and region. The same goes for Islam. We are taught to believe something is true by our culture and can only test this belief against the objective evidence we see in the world. Christianity fails every test. Does God really pick His believers based upon race and culture? This would be very unfair ,yet, this is what the evidence says if He were real. I cannot reconcile such an obvious flaw.

Ok, being human I will have my opinions. If at any time I said someones beliefs are wrong I'm sorry. I believe there to be a large difference between saying, "I see where you're coming from I just don't agree with you." and "You're wrong because the bible/koran/tao te ching/kaballah says so." It would be like me trying to prove your beliefs are wrong by using the Koran even though you're Buddhist. They have nothing to do with each other. My chosen path is quite difficult in a christian dominated country and I get my share of you're a Satan worshiper because of this passage in the Bible. I use that as a real life example of how people constantly use the apples and oranges comparisons.

Dear Lord, please save me from your followers.

    Please Don't!
Just like a christian, trying to limit knowledge again. I guess you like the trap you are in. Anyway, i already did.
Why would you want some subjective experiences from an assortment of people to base your beliefs on? It's a trap! These people never died, so they have no concept of what lies ahead. All of them wrote about it, but since they are alive it proves nothing.
This could just as easily be applied to the bible writers, as none came back to write about death. The bible is mostly subjective. The milieu affected everything that went into it. That is why it's good to read many nde's. Many of them had their bodies pronounced dead, some for up to half an hour. Danion brinkly is an outstanding case.
Christ died and was DEAD and was raised again, His testimony is trustworthy and true.
So where is his testimony? None of the bible was written by him. Unless maybe he has testified to you personally?
