UN vs. The Vatican - Ex-JWs, are you sure?

The UN isn't attacking the Vatican. That is Witness hype.
The Vatican is registered as part of the UN's human rights group. Being a member and with the child abuse problems they have, a panel put together a group to investigate the Vatican's handling of it.
They released a report condemning the church's handling of the abuse and gave recomendations for future handling.
Hardly an attack. The panel has ZERO influence in enforcing their observations though. If a strongly worded letter is the harbinger of of the end, The would would have exploded hours after the invention of the pen.

The Watchtower is like a boy crying "Wolf!" all the time. Say enough prophetic stuff in enough vague ways and some of it is bound to seem like what's going on in the news/world/United Nations. Cry "Wolf!" every frigging day/night, and when the wolf actually comes, say "I told ya so."
Look at their track record of being wrong and it might help you calm down. And now, all I have to say is "overlapping generations" and try not to laugh at what they say. But if they keep saying the end is near, and the end ever actually comes (but it won't), they will be the first to say "I told ya so."
Good times means the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one and the end is soon.
Bad times means it is time to wrap things up and the end is soon.
The International Year of Peace (UN slogan) was in the 1980's and that should have been the cry of "Peace and security."
A good economy means greed and getting tied up in the world until the end suddenly comes and a bad economy means everyone is getting ready to throw their money into the streets as the end suddenly comes.
Advances in science means putting trust in men and turning from God and the end suddenly taking these people by surprise. No advances in science means that Man doesn't know jack and better start preparing for the end about to happen suddenly. -

You've been brainwashed to experience emotions before facts. It's natural to have these feelings in response to world events. But feelings are not facts. Remind yourself of this.
the UN is becoming increasingly agressive toward the church
You know, I've seen this posted on many sites but I cannot find substantiation of it.
Does anyone have more info about this? Agressive in what way? Outspoken against child abuse?
I don't think saying children's safety comes before the church's safety is a threat. It's a pretty sane statement IMO, sensical and long overdue.

Its a typical reaction by uneducated people, to the criticism a UN body made of the Roman church over their handling of the child abuse issue. (BTW- the same criticism could be made of the way the JWs have handled the issue.)
The JWs are desperate for the end to come, lest they all be proved to have hoped in vain. This is typical of the grasping at straws way they view the development of world problems.
Jesus proved to be a false prophet, the hoped for end did not come as he predicted. If the world ends, it will not be at the behest of some divinity.

The Book of Revelation was written for the people living then, it has no relevance today. It is not, and never was, prophetic.
Relax, enjoy life to the full, this is the only life you can be sure of, it will end one day, but in the mean time enjoy each day to the full, work at making your dreams come true. JUST LIVE !

Personally I have found far more answers than I could ever have imagined by continuing to pursue the liberating, unabridged, explicit and naked gospel (or Good News) to its zenith, wherever it may lead.
PM me if you want a 1-page summary of the "Good News" in the Watchtower library.
And I pray you find liberation and freedom in the core of the "Good News" as shown in this video:

The UN is not going to destroy religion, all it may try to do is make it accountable for its actions. Some countries are finally trying to stop religion being used as a way to rort the tax system.
Simply put; I don't want to die. Especially not by a cosmic tyrant who 'judges' me as 'unfit to live'.
You are going to die, it is a fact for everyone, JW or not. So why worry about it? If you believe the Watchtower has it right, that cosmic tyrant will simply destroy you, not torture you, so it not to be feared. Living under a "comic tyrant" sounds like it would be more to be feared.

OTWO's comments were great.
When you use the "shotgun" method of prediction and move the goalpost, it's easy to convince the ignorant [strict dictionary definition, not an insult] that a prophecy has come to pass. The only prognostication of the WTBTS that even comes close to apperaing to be true, is 1914. That appearance is owed to W.W.I. When you examine that prediction, you soon find out that nothing happened that was predicted, in fact they were not even predicting the events that they say they were. The WTBTS has a 100% failure rate for predicting the future.
Check out these upcoming spiritual gems from the April 15th, 2014 WT.
Do you see the one who is invisible?
13)We are convinced that “the hour of judgment” has, indeed, arrived. We also have faith that Jehovah has not exaggerated the urgency of our preaching and disciple-making work. In vision, the apostle John “saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding tight the four winds of the earth.” (Rev. 7:1) By faith, do you see those angels poised to release the destructive winds of the great tribulation on this world? If you see those angels with your eyes of faith, you will be able to share the good news with confidence.
17) Soon, our lives will seem to be in peril. By the climax of the great tribulation, the governments of this world will have devastated and completely destroyed religious organizations that were larger and more numerous than ours. ( Rev. 17:16 ) Jehovah prophetically describes our vulnerable condition as “the land of unprotected settlements . . . , unprotected by walls, bars, or gates.” ( Ezek. 38:10-12, 14-16 ) With our physical eyes, it will appear that we have no chance of survival. How will you react?
Small wonder that you are afraid. That is the exact purpose of the article. The WTBTS wants to scare you into working for them, for free. Notice this back-handed scare tactic..
14) " Of course, we do not preach merely to avoid bloodguilt."
TRANSLATION: If you do NOT preach JW beliefs and give out JW literature, you ARE bloodguilty! Live in fear that YOU are not doing enough, like the poor sister in the above picture. Is it any wonder that many JWs manifest neurotic behavior? Look at that picture! It's all up to her!! She is responsible for those lives!
Now compare the prediction of the article to the following statement that most likely came from the August 24,1969 Arizona Republic newspaper:
Look at the second paragraph in the far right-hand column. Here is the quote, " He said that Witnesses will not be involved in social work or charitable work. For one thing, the end of the world as we know it, is imminent, so why bother?"
Here is my 2 cents worth of free advice on the issue. I believe that all the nu-light released, starting with "overlapping generations" and up to the GB/FDS, especially the new memorial outline, are to combat three major issues. In my opinion, these three issues are at the heart of everything the current leaders of the WT corporation do and say. They are, in my opinion:
1) The passage of time proving their predictions to be false.
They have to keep recycling the same ol' stuff. They have nothing else. They put all their eggs in one basket. Still, they have to motivate the sheeple, because it takes so little for a JW to learn TTATT.
2) The very strong possibility of the "Superior Authorities" cracking down on pedophilia in religion.
Remember the GB are like amateur Meterologists. They think a storm may be coming, so they can't ignore it. What if they say that nothing will happen and they get hit? The only option is to say it will come "soon", then they can claim any action taken against them is an attack by Satan's system. All the other religions deserved it, the WT just got caught in the crossfire. Then the WT can say that the GT "may" have started. Another decade could easily pass while the JW's heads are spinning.
3) The increasing amount of partakers.
It doesn't matter what anyone's beliefs are about partaking. All that matters is what JWs believe about it, particularly the GB. They made up their minds long ago, they are NOT listening to anyone's opinions. They fear real doctrinal change, because it would mean losing power and position. They DO NOT want anymore partakers. They want subservient yes-men. A person who believes that he or she is being shown truth from God's word, is NOT going to cower to anyone. They will readily see that the WT dogma does not add up, and they WILL say something about it. They have been for some time.
Just like any perceived "rebellion" against those who believe they have authority, it must be crushed. The nu-light about the GB/FDS and the new memorial outline, and the infamous "Human Apostate" talk being released from the WTBTS leaders was no coincidence. It's orchestrated, make no mistake about that. The following is the simplest way that I have ever seen the issue illustrated, a child can understand it. I can't remember which JWN poster shared it first, but it's dead-on.

Just consider the facts. I go to jwfacts.com from time to time. It's very helpful in calming any anxiety you may have about the WTBTS's prognostications. Their track record and their motives, as well as their authoritarian behavior will help you to dismiss their predictions. Consider one last sentence from the above WT article, " We are convinced that “the hour of judgment” has, indeed, arrived." Now compare that to Luke 21:8 where Jesus said, " Look out that you are not misled, for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The due time is near.’ Do not go after them." "Jesus will return in 1844."
"The world will end in 1874."
"Jesus will return in 1914."
"The world will end in 1914."World War occurs in 1914 and the world goes on. The only connection that can be made to anything within Watchtower world was the mention of the year "1914."
"See, I told ya so."
"The end will come in 1918/1925/1941/1975/20th Century/before people born in 1914 die/Soon."
So put a hundred years on the date they stuck with, despite nothing they said coming true, or even put 120 years on it to get to 2034 (like the 120 years limit set upon Noah's day) and it means nothing. You are adding a hundred years to an insignificant vague prophetic calling.
