most likely the co-pilot who had been known to let others into the pilot only areas. He may have innocently trusted someone and found out too late they had nefarious motives.

They are talking about using the plane to destroy a major city like tel aviv or nyc.

Another possibility is that the plane was being tracked at some point in time and was shot down by a Government.

So many possible terroristic senarios. I don't think the continential US is a target. After 9/11 it would be much harder to get a plane past the US air defenses.

If the passengers were taken to a higher altitude in order to suffocate them, then this hijacking is for terrorism. A hijacking scheme for money would most likely keep the passengers alive.

It could possibly be a terroristic plot eventually against an Israel or China city.

My scenario -- we won't ever learn what happened. Our military with its top secret ability uses satellite imagery gets a fix as it veers toward Indian Ocean. When they detect that it finally veers toward some major enemy city (see minimus above) our fighter jet puts it down. On 9/11 " On September 11, 2001, during the terrorist attacks on the United States, United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in a field in Stonycreek Township , 1.75 miles (2.82 km) north of the town of Shanksville. The hijackers had intended to crash the airplane in Washington, D.C. ; destroying either the Capitol or the White House . [7]" -- Wikipedia

Some theories advocate that our military put it down before it could do massive civilian damage to important populated structures on the ground. We'll never learn about the truth of that mission either.

Foul play is now the most likely scenario.

A hijacking that went wrong. ????

Wasn't an air force general given power to bring down a civilian plane after 9/11. They wanted the president removed. The details were lost in all the news. It sounded like a politcal thriller.

I don't want to think about it too much. There is nothing I can do.

My roommate has been doing aviation commentary on CNN.

just heard another theory, the plane was taken over ( like what happened to one of USA Drones' ) and flown to whatever destination was chosen.

airliners do get shot down. remember that Korean air over sakhalin. and there also was the tv show about the greek affair where every one on board succumbed to oxigen deprivation, a wannabe-pilot-flight attentend flew it last, using a portable oxigen bottle, and the plane flew on into the water, even with fighter escort. or how about the sports team that survived for weeks in the Andes mountains, crashed, lost, undetected and without external food supplies?

the mystery was finally solved when the strongest survivor walked out of the icy wilderness to bring in help? and nourishment?
