reminds me of the account of herod having all the local newborn babies killed......how many would there have been in such a small locality?....it always seemed that he massacred thousands...but would probably actually have been a handful,....

I think that this is not the way it's worded on the NWT... I noticed this in other versions but the NWT has it worded in such a way that this contradiction is not seen...

Joined 1/26/2013Does it make sense to kill all the firstborn children and adults in the kingdom when they had nothing to do with Pharoah's decision? Is that loving?
If god is all powerful and all knowing, then he couldn't he just influence Pharoah to make him release them? Couldn't he say to himself, well knowing the future, if I call all of Egypt's firstborn, they will let my people go. So instead of killing innocent's I'll just strike Pharoah and all his house dead.
A loving god wouldn't kill babies, toddlers, kids, teens, and adults who couldn't do anything about the situation. As for an apologist saying all they had to do was put blood on their doorways, how would they know? There was no preaching work. Average Egyptians in huts wouldn't have a clue.
Great point comatose.. People dont need "lies" to make god unlovable.. He does a pretty good job of that himself by just reading the bible.

Heaven- I have heard those suggestions.. What does prayer do? Turn off your brain? What does prayer have to do with words in plain black and white? Did Jehovah kill ALL the egyptians livestock like it says or no? Those kind of omments piss me off royally. How would someone know how much someone else prays anyway?

It would seem real, and Pharoah could have wondered through the dream-world for what seemed like ages and could have learned his lesson. Then innocent humans and animals don't need to be killed.
Why not just mentally blind the entire nation of Egypt? The Israelites could have just walked out! YHWH sure likes to kill people to get his points across...

Sure God could have done those things if the story was real and if the Bible wasnt just full of stories made my men to scare others into falling in line.. Same thing with the She bear killing 40 kids.. Im sure the story was written as a way to make kids have more respect and scare the hell out of them. Whats the lesson there anyways? If a kid mocks someone should we feed them to the lions at your local zoo? What is God trying to tell us? What a loving parent Jehovah is.. To follow his example, the next time your kid disrespects anyone, you should feed them to pitbulls which havent eaten in a week! What a fine way to follow the example of our loving father Jehovah God.

Well BUB2 prior to this wassnt the punishment for being disrespectful to your parents digging a hole so that only your childs head was out of it and then everyone pelt them to death with stones. Just imagine how happy GOD was watching those kids getting hit in the bridge of the nose with rocks and watching their brains slowly leak out. MUST HAVE BEEN GREAT
