minimus:You bring up some bad memories. Me, 30 year old elder,

a fellow elder wife (they were in there 50's) approached me about

the like of intimacy in the bed room. I respected this elder and his

family, only three elders in the congrgation. So what do I do. I read up

on some crack doctor to see if your man is impotent. Put a rubber band

on the men private part at night and if it is broken in the morning he

    is not impotent.

The elder ran off with a another sister. What the hell did I know about

    such things.

Yes. Certain things I never subscribed to, such as I never allowed them to separate me from my non jw family. Other things I did become and attitudes I did develop...how can I now live with myself?

Very embarrassed! Had to virtually shun my 'worldly' family (cousins, aunts and uncles and grandparents). No holidays for my kids. Appointed as an elder in 1972 at 25 yo and had way too much to do considering I had two kids under 5 yo. I was a 'self righteous sh*thead like all young elders were in those days. Like minimus said 'having to counsel families when I was still wet behind the ears". What a joke of a life I led and dragged my family into. Oh well, that's the past!

    just saying

I am embarrassed that I used to ignore disfellowshipped people & not speak to them, very unChristlike

When you think about it... Young men..... with no education beyond

high school .... given titles....no real training... dressed up in suits and ties

and called "elders" at 24 years old ? and then put in charge of other people's

lives, and fate, and futures and marriages ? Its a mans religion where nobodies

get to be big shots, where janitors clean toilets by day and show up in suits

at meetings and are called "elders" and treated as if they knew something.
