Thats a great pic, lol. I remember was it last year or two years ago when they made a big deal about being prepared for a natural disaster. My wife went out and blew 500 bucks on all that stuff that's now just sitting in my garage.

Oh this is just dumb, dumb, dumb.
It is not dissimilar to when Mormons were feverishly building up stockpiles of food and resources that they were storing in their cellars for the time of the end. It presupposed they'd be close to home when the end struck.
Like the Mormons, the JW self-preservation obsession rules out helping others. What if one of the people sharing your dwelling is a non-JW are they excluded from the cellar (where the lit up special meeting is occurring (what a relief: electricity still works - otherwise it would be mighty dark down there - and cold)? Die you worldly fiend. And the use of ties still prevails! Now there's a priority! The "elder" doesn't thumb through a Bible, but has sheets of paper with unknown information on them - no doubt downloaded from JW.org from the still-working internet.
Hmmmmm. I suppose the upside for the Witnesses is it conjures up a lovely sense of shared togetherness and group paranoia. I can think of nothing more odious than to be stuck with a bunch of religious nutters - JWs or not - in a cellar whilst the world above presumably burns.

We need to work on a spoof of the Doomsday Prepper's Handbook. Substitute "GT" for "Doomsday" and have boxes of literature in lieu of food and fuel.

The instructions are being read, what is in those bottles on the shelf in the back, it looks like carpenters wood glue. why are these faces not confident? like "raise up your heads, your deliverance is drawing near"?
Why bring all people together, instead of seeking shelter close to their own provisions?
has wt ever delivered on their protection promises before?

The elders can't look after the flock now, so what would make you think they would be any better at it during an apocalypse.(zombie or otherwise)

Agreed! They need Fear to get their people to remain in the Kingdum Halls. I heard someone with cancer say "The brothers told me the New System is so close, with the Middle East happening, Jehovah might bring the End before you go through Chemo!" What do you think of false hope like that, instead of helping her deal with the fact she is going to die, they tell her "The End is soooo Near!"
Which Brother had the money to afford a Bunker with food and back-up generators? There's nobody around here with a basement and even if there was, there is no way the Elites of the Congregation would invite anyone who did not have anything to offer their little bunker-shelter!
Is this magazine speaking about the twenty JW Elites, leaving the other eighty to fend for themselves? The new program has made the Kingdom Hall as welcoming as one of Joel Olstein's Super Churches, nobody know's anyone attending their church, and with JWs you know Field Service groups are rigged, it's the same elders working with his buddy for thirty minutes and off to the donut shop. The Sheep don't even know whose group their in, how many publishers did you see walk out the door never to be seen or checked on?

*Sigh*
Although the beginning of the article did mention the 1st century gospel about repenting and accepting Jesus in order to be saved, after the picture of the people in the basement the end message is:
16 ... At that time, Gog will attack “a people regathered from the nations,” Jehovah’s people. (Ezek. 38:10-12) ... [blah, blah, we know how it goes]
17 When Gog begins the assault, Jehovah will tell his servants: “Go, my people, enter your inner rooms, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself for a brief moment until the wrath has passed by.” (Isa. 26:20) At that crucial time, Jehovah will give us lifesaving instructions, and the “inner rooms” might well be connected with our local congregations.
18 If, therefore, we wish to benefit from Jehovah’s protection during the great tribulation, we must recognize that Jehovah has a people on earth, organized into congregations. We must continue to take our stand with them and remain closely associated with our local congregation. With all our hearts, may we join the psalmist in proclaiming: “Salvation belongs to Jehovah. Your blessing is upon your people.”—Ps. 3:8.
- P. 27.
So, as usual, the 1st century message about 'salvation in Jesus' gets switched to 'salvation in the Org.'

For the Governing Body is the way, the truth and the life. No one gets into the New System except through them.
