  I believe it is not unreasonable to draw a comparison between the JW cult and Islam. The conduct and opinions of inactive JWs do not provide evidence for the actual beliefs and practices of mainstream JWs.

  I concur.

  If JW's were ever actually able to set up their own little "theocracy" it wouldn't be long before they were acting just like devout muslims, complete with stonings and all other sorts of medieval fun and games.

  I don't have the quote handy, but they've published that the only reason they don't practice stoning of "sinners" is because it's illegal in most countries.

  I've personally had an elder--and someone that was a former "friend" (or so I used to believe)--tell me that I should have been stoned to death for something I did.

  I reminded him that we are not under the Mosaic Law any longer, but under the law of the Christ. It was truly a weird experience to be threatened like that. The only thing that kept me from responding differently was that I was trying to reconcile the broken relationship with my children. So far it hasn't worked.

  Physical abuse - poking slapping etc, is not the same as a reasonable deconstruction and criticism of yet another set of fairy tales and fables.

  Is a religious belief so weak and delicate that we cannot disagree and satirise it. At least if I mock the Christian religion, I know it is very unlikely to get my throat cut, or inspire riots in other countries that kill hundreds.

  Dont think the radicals will be nice to us if we shut up and give into their threats.

  I watched that video and it was disturbing. Who could have imagined that in the year 2014 there are people who are so brainwashed that they actually think bringing back stoning for apostacy, and adultery is a good idea. Wow! As much as I dislike Christianity, there is no comparison to the filth that is Islam. It's time to face facts, Islam in its current form will never be compatible with western ideals. Let's stop referring to it as a religion of peace, and start calling it out for what it is: a cult of death, and enslaver of women.

  I have Muslim friends and their prejudice seems no less than those of a devout Evangelical.

  I would suggest you have friends who claim to be muslim but who don't really follow or believe in the Quoran, the current hate-list best-seller, and find it inconvenient having people with the same label showing up what it's really all about.

  There are no moderate peaceful muslims, just as there are no honest JWs. Everything is an act for the benefit of outsiders.

  I too have friends who are muslim ... in that they are not really muslim which is why they are reasonable and normal.

  If anything is likely to make them violent, it's feeling that the world is against them because people are speaking out against their holy book, blaspheming Mohammed to get a rise out of them, etc. How can they not return hate with hate?

  Just the fact that they react so violently to any lampooning of their pedophile prophet reveals a major vulnerability with their faith. Perhaps they feel the only way to defend the indefensable is to lash out in violence. This is unacceptable, and there is no place for this kind of childish behavior in this day and age. Tip toeing around their sensitivities isn't a solution, and only continues to enable and encourage bad behavior. Free speech is far greater than their insecurities about their prophet.

  Just looked at Muhammed's pronouncements on women's situation vis a vis men's in the Quran. They are inferior to men. Their rights are less than men's. Their worth is less than a man's. This is what the Prophet heard from Allah!!

  Very Old Testament sounding.

  Not good for women if this is what "God" teaches about you, because it is too easy for this degraded attitude toward women to pervade the religious community even if some men think they are immune to such talk. Who of the moderates will stand up to the religious leaders who endorse the Prophet's words?

  That's it - at least Christianity has the common sense to know that the old testament is now an embarrassment and not workable in the real world so they mostly jettisoned it in favor of something more acceptable.

  Islam is still living in old testament times and think it makes them righteous if they follow it instead of backward and uncivilised.
