I avoid reading the posts I write, because I prefer to read thoughtful posts made in good taste and posts with boobs in them.

Yes, I generally ignore those I consider trolls. Sometimes the subject line gets me to start reading and then I decide to skip it. I have a few interests that I look for but often the subject line is not well titled to help me decide to read it. I mostly just wander around and if I don't land on something I can contribute to I just lurk or go do something else. But just because I don't post alot doesn't mean I am purposely ignoring the person who started the post. I choose to keep my mouth (or fingers) shut unless I have a clear opinion and this usually results in not adding several characters of text to a thread that really doesn't appear to be of much significance to me. It's just a personal choice in how I use my time and not a conscious effort to ignore certain posters.

There are certain posters whose names will pull me into their threads straight away!

I ignore fundies, too. I hate being 'sold' on a bible teaching. I avoid the wars, they don't interest me at all. I like the JW news ones, and I always read silentlambs, Farkel, Alanf, Amazing's posts because they are always interesting.

I stay away from newbies, actually. I had a couple instances where the experiences were bogus, and I looked like a fool.

Well, since I'm a self-proclaimed conservative narrow-minded prick, ahh....what were we talking about?

The truth is, and I mean THE truth here, there are way too many great topics, and I can't hope to touch the tip of the iceberg. Besides, I'm a conservative narrow-minded prick.

    Lisa,

An interesting topic, and I agree with you that Belbab is a very interesting poster, I always enjoy the lateral viewpoints he presents of an issue. I would go further than this and present a scenario that many other good posters are often not responded too, especially when their worthwhile posts are lost against the backdrop of what to me are far less worthy posts.

I suspect it is part of human nature, coupled with the 'adolescent revival' that seems to grip many ( whatever their age ) as they exit the tight confines of the WTS morality, that makes threads about breasts, buttocks and bravado, so attractive to many posters. I personally find them very boring especially when they descend into a flirtatious drool-pit. Post a thread with titillation as its motive and you are guaranteed a thousand 'hits'. I know Farkel left the board at one point because of the lackluster responses to some of his essays when compared to the plethora of inane one line comments on some other threads. I can understand why, but then I tend to be rather demanding in my expectations.

And yes, I do not engage in conversing with those who I do not want to converse with...lol. As such this approaches the way I deal with people in real life. I do not ignore them, I may read or hear what they have to say, but I will avoid inviting them into my life. If I find a persons ethics not to my taste, I will not even read their threads.

Some posters whose thoughts I try hard not to miss are Alan, TMS, GinnyTosken, Ozzie, Larc Englishman ( imho a person who uses this Board to the maximum, without a hint of addiction), etc. etc. etc. and of course Lisa, as I am replying to your post - your good-selflol TMS and GinnyTosken especially are imho exceptionally gifted creative writers and I cannot resist a good read. It does seem however that some of the Boards most gifted writers and researchers, seem to post less and less frequently and I have to wonder why?

Kindest regards to you and your Lisa - HS.
