I know a few humans that should be fixed. ;)
If you had a child, you would get him/her vaccinated even though it hurt.
RedHorseWoman: Would you neuter your children? Vaccination is a little scar, but full-on neutering is a rather drastic modification of an animal for our own purposes. Far better to do a kitty vasectomy (just tie the little tubes, don't SEVERE them), then there is no guilt. Of course, the cat will remain a "man", just an impotent "man". Simple solution to this moral dilemna, although more expensive. Naturally, the cat will still be aggressive and stuff, but hey, if you want to keep an animal in your house, what do you expect?
Are human sexual urges somehow better than animal sexual urges? That is the main question I am asking.
Then again, sex is no fun for cats.
You did the right thing Spice. Now you won't get any paternity suits handed over to you by irate neighbours who didn't have enough sense to have their little girls sterilized.
My daughter and I have 3 indoor cats and so far 2 of them have gone under the knife. We have lots of Toms hanging around waiting to get at little our little Daisy. And the little stinker....she figured out how to open the screen on one of the windows two weekends ago. We were away and fortunately our neighbour took her in. I guess I'll know in awhile if I am going to be a grandmother or not. sigh Anyone want a kitten?
Beautiful picture of a beautiful feline Spice.

Carol,
You have a cute cat - and Onyx is a cute name for him too!! (I just might have difficulty saying that word.)
It became a 'standard' practice when I was still married - that all pets got spayed or neutered - if they wanted to live around our house.
Most of the animals that were, lived to ripe old ages - before they died One (Bart) lived over 13 years... quite old for a cat. The few exceptions were the ones that 'discovered' going across the street - not healthy. Cars.
It was always kinda hilarious to watch the ones that had gotten a bit older and had started 'marking' their territory before we got them neutered... they would still try... and not much would happen.
Take care of your sweet cat - you did the right thing. He will make a good friend for a long time.
If it's any consolation - they only give you those 'dirty looks' for a little bit. They soon forget and mend quickly.
Fond Regards,
Jim TX
I took my male cat in to be "Spayed"..they finally stopped laughing and did the right operation! Picked him up later and he had a bad "Meow" it was all raspy. Plus he was drooling all the time.
The dog started to drag Him/Her around the house by the neck for fun. ( Yes I smacked the dog!)
When I let him/her out..he would hide from the other cats. He was already "mature" when I had it done. They say you need to have it done before they "Mature" or they are still considered a threat to other cats. They were always beating him up. Which was stupid...that's why I got him "Spayed" in the first place!
One time I let him back in and he was going nuts! He was running around the house like he was crazy!. I locked him in the basement and called the Animal Patrol. They came over and took him away...I felt so bad....but I was afraid he had contacted rabies or something, even tho he had all his shots..I mean he was really wild! He had been gone for about a week!
Well a few days later...I hear this MEOW in that raspy sound on my back porch...turns out that wasn't my cat! No wonder the other cat was so wild! Poor kitty!
Hey..I couldn't help it! all black cats have white paws and chest!..

SOB!!! Onyx looks like my baby MOKKI .. I had to give her to someone because of the move across country. I still miss them. But they are in a good place. An I could not have them where I live unfortunately. ( we inherited a place ) so there was not much of a choice in the matter. I at least got Tink spayed and Mokki after she had one litter we got her fixed too.
Anyway cherish them.

Poor Kitty. But after my middle son had two babies within 5 months of each other, I am thinking I should have had him nuetered.
We will be de-nutting our two males here soon.... only dillemma is do I keep the balls in a jar or not.
One of our cats, a male, sprayed after being denutted. Any leather would set him off.

We have two neutered cats who do not appreciate each other as much as they should, but they are not having to fight other cats-now if they would just stop fighting each other !! However, if someone did that to me, I would leave home.
