DO YOU HAVE ANY GOALS?

One thing a JW has to have is a goal. A goal for getting to the meetings, a goal for answering at the meetings, a goal to pay attention at the meetings.....a goal to go out in field service, a goal to talk at the doors, a goal to place literature.....a goal for everything under the sun! Do you find that you are sick and tired of goals and need a breather, or have you set new goals?

My new goal is to bring that religion down.

Well now, I am retired, and most of my goals are in the past. Some I attained beyond my wildest dreams, and some I did not meet. Do I have goals now? Yes, I have a few. One is to finish some research I have worked on for several years and get it published. Why? Because it is really good stuff, and my scientific collegues need to know about it. This all based on intrinsic motivation, no extrensic motivation involved here at all.

Hey Larc "This all based on intrinsic motivation, no extrensic motivation involved here at all" Get your butt up off the couch and start writing.

Larc, looks at his feet and shuffles and stammers. Joy, you be right. I gotta get movin. I do have a meeting with a collegue next Saturday. We are going to meet for at least five hours, re: research. That deadline will get me off my butt.

And it's possible to have a semblance of a meaningful life without goals? Of course I have goals. I'd like to think most people do. I'll stop having goals when I stop breathhing....won't most people?

I disagree with the insinuation that we had real goals as witlessses. Our goals were served up on a plate from the "slave" as food at the proper time. No goal there.....just corporate whoring.

Joy. Dayuuum, you are good. Yes indeedy I have to use extrensic motivation, Saturday's deadline, to get my intrinsic motivation fired up. I would rather sit here and write you love letters all day Saturday, but my wife would take a dim view of such.

What insinuation? They were called goals. Period. Some JW's FEEL they have a meaningful life and have the faithless and indiscreet slave force feed them their goals.
