This is a song I had heard at least a dozen times before before the lyrics finally crystalized for me and I realized just what the song was about.
Then it hit me like a gut-punch.

What a Wonderful World -
As sung by the Great Satchmo.
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"
I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Oh yeah
Simon...the sad Bobby Goldsboro song was "Honey", I think.
Someone mentioned Starry, Starry Night. Don't know if that ones different from Don McClean's "Vincent" but I like that one alot.
I like the song "Silver Springs" sung by Stevie Nicks. It's a melancholy song written by her about her relationship with Lindsey Buckingham. A very passionate song too.
I don't know the name of the song, but part of it goes
My name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you....
They only hit until you cry
After that you don't ask why
You just don't argue anymore...
or something like that.
That was Luka by Suzanne Vega Cicatrix. She was brilliant. Actually she still is, but her heyday was the "Marlene on the Wall" period.
Peace to you all...
There is one song that makes me choke up EVERY time I hear it: "Vincent" sung by either Josh Groban or Jane Oliver.
It was written about artist Vincent Van Gogh, who committed suicide. Beautiful song... wrenches my heart every time I hear it because I always think of people who take their own lives because they just don't feel heard or understood... or have lost all hope. And there's a lot of folks, particularly young ones/teenagers, who feel that way... as well as "sheep" who've been ostracized! When I hear this song, my heart and spirit... and flesh... cries... for them all...
Again, peace to you all!
