Everything you mention plus plum pudding soaked in brandy. We don't do egg nog either. None of us like waking up the next morning with Egg Noggin.

    Blondie,

I love pumpkin pie, cream of pumpkin soup, gingerbread houses, and home-made eggnog. I love scented candles that smell of white Christmas, and evergreen, I love candles in the windows and white lights and garland on the stairway. I love the Christmas tree lit up at night, and the fireplace that smells of hickory. I love my husband and my family and the beautiful table decorated with turkey, and stuffing, and cranberry sauce with oranges. I love the smell of apple cider with mulled spices on a cold winter day and sipping it in front of the fireplace. I love the sound of songs of Christmas and the Nativity scenes decorating the tables to remind me of the light that Jesus brought into the word. I love the tradition of ice skaters on a mirror and soft faux snow that my grandmother decorated the table with. I love the little villages of winter holiday all lit up to give the feeling of warmth in our dining room as we share time together as a family. I always love these things and missed them so very much when I was a JW and am so happy to be embracing it again with my family. I do not believe the lies Watchtower told of the meaning of Christmas. I now see December 25 as the same day Jesus walked at the Temple during the "Festival of Lights, or Festival of Dedication. That is what that day means to me now.(((((((((((((Blondie, enjoy it all)))))))))))))))

ARoarer, I'm doing that now, except it is not winter yet officially, but it has been cold enough and snow has come.

Any more traditions, new or old?

YUMMMMMMMy. It all sounds so good!

I make zucchini/molasses bread with either raisen or walnuts. It's best after it's been wrapped and frozen for a few weeks, so I can get baking done earlier. Too, my husband likes a cranberry salsa that's different. Here in the southwest anything with the word salsa attached gets attention. Hum, I just had the distinct feeling that I've posted this same comment way back on an old thread. Geezz, I must be getting old.

We also have a tradition of giving away home canned goodies. Everyone loves that and the baked goods. Guess it's become tradition over the years. Anyhow we enjoy it.

My Dad's gibblet dressing when he decides to make it (used to be every year, now, not so much). The Turkey I cook is actually better than dad's he uses the bag, I go for the whole old fashioned basteing thing. But his dressing (stuffing) is still just a hair better than mine.

My aunt makes cookies once a year only, each of us neices and nephews get a bag with two of each kind. THEY ARE THE BEST! She won't give out the recipes either the B*tch!

I've been making a Christmas Pudding for the last few years, steamed, it's GREAT!

I also like the chicken broccli chesse casserole my sis in law makes.

FOOD not the presents was always my fav part of Christmas.

Drinks, well, it used to be ANYTHING with alcohol, but now, a nice hot tea or an espresso.

Are you telling me, minimus, that you don't drink eggnog or spiced cider, that you avoid turkey and cranberry sauce, that you never eat mincemeat or pumpkin pie? Do you boycott these food items between Thanksgiving and New Years?

You can tell me about your favorite winter season food then.

Blondie (who sees some gnat straining going on)
