The way I see it, is that we are stuck with what government we have. There are those in communist countries that have to deal with what they have. Others have to live with a dictator that will kill them if they disagree. We have the USofA, and as many problems as there may be here, it still is about as good as it can get.

We can learn to work with the system, or against it. There are laws, and we must adhere to them, and most of them are for our good anyways.

If we really wanted to see how bad it can be, why not ask those who must live under horrible conditions? See what it is really like.

One of my employees is from Russia. I get to hear first hand what was really like there, and this is only 10 years ago. Oh my God, do we have it made here. At least we are allowed to complain. He did not sugarcoat what was going on there. But many people there just don't know any better.

I am very suprised to read on these postings what sounds to me like just plain ole hatred of this country. I do not think that the laws here are very controlling at all. Not when compared to other countries.

Pomegranate- May I be bold enough to ask where you live, and what you do for a living?

Your statement that "we are stuck with the government we have" is a symptom of the disease. There was a time when the government wasn't this all powerful monolith that couldn't be changed. I don't think the founders ever intended the federal government to take on all the roles that it does today. Our oppression is not the jackbooted kind, it's just a general over willingness to conform and accept everything the way it is. We dont have to be imprisoned, we've built our own, and whats sad is that most people don't recognise it as long as their table is full.

We can also decide to change things for ourselves. We can choose to be content with what we have, or we can do something about it.

There just is not much one person can do about changing things, but he does have the power to change his way of thinking.

I will not make excuses for wanting more out of life, or achieving goals, or what I do with my life. I treat those around me with love and respect, and work hard. To suggest that I am not aware of the sorrow and hardships around me is not right.

I respect those people that try hard to achieve things in life, and reach out for a hand up. I feel for those who are crying the blues, but wish that they would do something productive instead of crying about it.

Lets quit whinning, and do something positive!

And what would be 'positive'? One must first organize to affect change. Who will join me? Besides, I'm not really referring to sorrow and hardships around me. The problem is that many of us have it too good. We are content . We dont realise that we are just cogs in a machine who have been brainwashed into thinking steak, central AC and cable TV=freedom. A well fed slave is still a slave.

I do respect everyones viewpoints. Really, I do. I believe I can learn a lot from hearing other peoples view on subjects. May not change my own thoughts, but it can help me understand where another is coming from.

As I look back on these postings on this thread, I am really confused to what it is all about. I hear about not having rights, that we are imprisoned, basically that we are idiots that enjoy this country.

Is that what really is being said here?

Are those posting here really hating the country as much as it appears?

Sigh. It's a sad day when citizens of a Republic founded via Revolution are classified as hating their country when they criticise it. I don't hate my country, I would just like it returned to me. Uh oh, damn, you've made me late for my militia meeting.

It's generally college kids and people that age that protest. Once we get older, we get too afraid of change. We have more at steak (medium rare), why rock our comfortable boat, when it's full of stuff?

One big ripoff, is the way money is put into circulation.

"Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day; but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period, and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers (administrations), too plainly proves a deliberate, systematic plan of reducing us to slavery." Thomas Jefferson.

A wise man once observed that there are none so enslaved as those who believe they are free but are not.

To have slaves believe they are free when in fact they are betroddened in hidden heavy chains, bespeaks of the depths and magnitutude of the crafitness of the Evil Master behind the evil scheme.

Rights are GOD GIVEN and are FREE.

Privileges are MAN GIVEN and you have to PAY for privileges. And YOU pay dearly.

"Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not so costly you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." Winston Churchill
