    avishai,
You said "Who are you to say that I have'nt? Are you saying you know my spritual beliefs?"

Judging by this post you made, I can pretty much tell your not a Bible believer.

"Why the hell would God make people like this? Is this a joke? Oh, wait, religion is the big joke. Including calvinism. Wow. No, I'm not a calvinist. God, how irretrievably stupid do people have to be"

    The things in this post:
    1) Bad language
    2) All religion is a joke
    3) the taking of the Lord's name in vain
    4) name calling

I don't know what your spiritual beliefs are, avishai, but unless you didn't mean anything you said in that post, I am prone to believe that you haven't gone to Christ for salvation, and that you have little regard for Scripture. The truth is, avishai, personal beliefs don't add up to a hill of beans if they are not founded upon Biblical truths. The Bible says "now is the day of salvation."
I don't mean in this in a smug or arrogant manner, I am telling you this because I know it to be true. If you have any questions concerning the Bible or salvation, feel free to e-mail me.

Are you saying i need to join a church based on your interpretation of the bible?

Did i miss something here? When did Swedish Chef say anything about you or anyone else needing to join a church? Thats what FALSE RELIGION PROMOTES. Just join up, and do your best and everything will be ok. Most of us have been there and done that. What he did say was that it appeared you havent gone to Christ, judging by your response.

IN fact, Jesus said himself, "I am the way, the truth, the life" not an organization, world church or what have you. You also said he (swedish chef) was telling you what you do believe and dont believe. If he did, and he was wrong, post what you do believe like most everyone else here, and we'll no doubt debate it.

O.k, when I said, "God, how irretrievably stupid can people be?" I was asking "God" a hypothetical question. Not taking his "name in vain" Also, God is a title, not a name. Where's the bad language in that post? Hell? Sorry. Also, did I call you specifically a name? If the shoe fits....

    Swedish Chef,

I appreciate your response to my post. I agree with you 100% In our eyes, we make the choice to follow Gods Son. In Gods eyes, he calls us, and quickens us. The invitation goes out to ALL. (Many are called, but few are chosen)

The problem i have with freewill churches, is almost all of them deny the doctrine of election and limited atonement. And most revivals and church sermons i've attended, boil down to the preacher exclaiming "God has done all he can do, now its up to you to do the rest" "Poor God, he's trying to save you and you wont let him" I have actually heard those words uttered by freewill preachers. AAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!! I remember when i was a JW, (the mormans and many others use this phrase) they would say "We are all free, moral, agents. Haaaa #1 We're not free ---we're in bondage to sin, unless set free by God.#2 We're certainly not moral.---just because we dont act on our evil impulses #3 Who are we agents of? In our natural state, you know who were agents of. But in Christ of course we're his agent.

I think you will agree with me that not ONE PRECIOUS DROP OF THE SON OF GOD WILL BE WASTED. All for whom he died, will be brought home to glory.

I also belive its a heart work, and an ongoing process. Remember that scripture "he who began a good work in you, will complete it..." and also the scripture "Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our Faith" Too many people (some of them i know personally) look back on some experience as their salvation. I've heard comments like "I walked the isle" or "I prayed the sinners prayer" I'm not condemning walking down an ise to profess your faith. But i think its dangerous to base ones salvation on one event like that. Too many people have walked the isle, only never to return, perhaps because they felt their arm was twisted off. And not return just to church, but their bible and to Jesus.

I know the apostle theme wasnt "God has an elect people, and we hope youre among them." or "You dont have to do anything, if you're one of his, you'll make it to glory" This of course would be false. And yet i believe it's equally false to say "God is trying to save you, and you wont let him." "Just walk down front, pray through, and youre saved."

I believe the message was and still is "Repent, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and be baptized you shall be saved." And not only that, but "trust him every day, and draw nigh unto him and he will draw nigh unto you." Of course some will twist the baptism thing, saying thats what saves you, but we know better. Thats another topic for another stormy day.

    Your brother in Christ

Sangdigger- I couldn't have said it better myself. That was great. I don't see where anyone can come up with a reasonable argument against that, without contridicting the Bible. So, just want to say well done!

    Sangdigger,
Amen brother. Thanks for the words of encouragement. It's not often I'm agreed with for my trust in the Bible. I'm sure the case is the same with you and with Calvinist02.
In a world where Christianity, the Bible, and even simple morals are under constant attack, we Bible believing Christians have to stick together!

"God has done all he can do, now its up to you to do the rest."
I have heard this many times myself, but I can't say I've ever heard this one:
"Poor God, he's trying to save you and you wont let him."

It is a disgrace when someone tries to make you feel sorry for God! We are the pitiful ones, whose righteousness is as filthy rags. Christ is the mighty champion of the cross, the Sovereign Lord and our Savior.

Definately. We are nothing but total, pitifull sinners who deserve Hell. And God, being rich in grace on mercy saved few, His elect, out of pure love. Great....

I recently heard this in a testimony from a man who was raised in an Arminian Church and said he was "saved 11 times!" :) (He now knows, He never was) He is now a Calvinist and said this:

"I now realized that I wasn't the one to accept Christ, better yet, Christ to accept me."

Profound! Just wanted to share that with ya'll!

Sangdigger, SwedishChef, Calvanist02, et al..., I'm happy your faith brings you peace. You have chosen the path that you believe will bring you closer to god. Others have chosen different paths than yours. Your faith comes from one collection of books the sum of which is known as The Holy Bible. Others find their path in other books such as the Koran, or the Torah. Still others find their spiritual path in the oral traditions of their culture. I know you truly feel that your beliefs are the only ones filled with sacred truth, but so do those of other beliefs. I believe that god lives within each of us and directs us to his/hers/its presence in many diferent ways. You have found your path, and I have found mine. My path brings me peace, I hope yours does the same for you. In parting, let me just say; may we all have peace.

    "Ye are Christ's."-1 Corinthians 3:23

Ye are Christ's." You are His by donation, for the Father gave you to the Son; His by His bloody purchase, for He counted down the price for your redemption; His by dedication, for you have consecrated yourself to Him; His by relation, for you are named by his name, and made one of His brethren and joint-heirs. Labour practically to show the world that you are the servant, the friend, the bride of Jesus. When tempted to sin, reply, "I cannot do this great wickedness, for I am Christ's." Immortal principles forbid the friend of Christ to sin. When wealth is before you to be won by sin, say that you are Christ's, and touch it not. Are you exposed to difficulties and dangers? Stand fast in the evil day, remembering that you are Christ's. Are you placed where others are sitting down idly, doing nothing? Rise to the work with all your powers; and when the sweat stands upon your brow, and you are tempted to loiter, cry, "No, I cannot stop, for I am Christ's. If I were not purchased by blood, I might be like Issachar, crouching between two burdens; but I am Christ's, and cannot loiter." When the siren song of pleasure would tempt you from the path of right, reply, "Thy music cannot charm me; I am Christ's." When the cause of God invites thee, give thy goods and thyself away, for thou art Christ's. Never belie thy profession. Be thou ever one of those whose manners are Christian, whose speech is like the Nazarene, whose conduct and conversation are so redolent of heaven, that all who see you may know that you are the Saviour's, recognizing in you His features of love and His countenance of holiness. "I am a Roman!" was of old a reason for integrity; far more, then, let it be your argument for holiness, "I am Christ's!"

    SwedishChef,

I just read your post. I'm not sure what point you were trying to make. If you were trying to refute my above statement with a quote from somone who holds the bible to be the ultimate truth, I'm afraid you have missed the part in my post that that states that I do not recognize the authority of the bible.
