What would happen if the religion just straight out gets outed as bad? The ORG admits to it and all the members get told to disperse

World Wide Church of God actually did come out and own up to it and,,yes,,, actually apologized.

Kingdom of the Cults. By Walter Martin.

I read the book. Have it.

The Borg will never apologize. They've admitted to it.

Starlight. Vee,, I see the hypothetical point you're making. I know what you're trying to say.

But the Borg will never apologize. They've said it. They reinvent themselves. The multi billion dollar tax free enterprise moves on. In a new century. Different methods of it.

It's a ridiculous scenario, but if we were to entertain it for a minute, I presume that what would happen is that a core of "true believers" would simply go off and form a new offshoot (or maybe several).

That's been the history of religious groups (and indeed any other organisations where there remains a core of committed "believers" in the original principles, like charities or businesses too).

So there would be something like "Jah's New Witnesses" or somesuch, which would be a much smaller splinter group, possibly with other similar break away groups, while others would either go away to other Bible groups, some might go to mainstream churches, and the rest would get on with their lives in other ways, maybe just keeping their beliefs private from then on.

It was mentioned on here before how the WT could claim the GB are evil slave, secretly retire them all in nice little villas somewhere to keep them quiet, and install a new bunch, then carry on as normal, possibly changing the name Jehovah's Witnesses to something else.

Everyone needs to read this article on Ponzi schems. As you read it think WTC and you will notice the MO.

    Well…

    …they could try…

Makes you wonder if Uncle Tony’s complete vanishment off the face of the planet (admittedly very effective, credit where credit’s due) is some kind of beta-test for that very contingency.

Uncle Tonys vanishing could be a litmus test,,,so to speak??

Do they really all want to suddenly disappear from the public eye and the adoration of JWs? I can't see those egos leaving without a lot of kicking and screaming. As Vidiot points out, the handling of Tony Morris' disappearance is impressive. But can it happen again without the objection of the current GB?

Of course, this could be some kind of 4d chess game being played by the legal department without the GB fully realising what's going on.

I don’t think they’d find it too difficult, actually.

It’d definitely be preferable to hanging around and actually facing the humiliations of further decline, increased legal losses, and insolvency (and make no mistake, they would absolutely find those things humiliating).

    STARLIGHT.vee:

    I agree with VIDIOT.

I also think that even if the JW religion were not ‘outed’ as bad, this is the direction they are heading-in if there’s a more drastic loss of members and they end up selling off the halls. Some may disagree.

They can then be online with a changed name or whatever; almost no physical presence except an assembly hall (or maybe not)... Since I’m Out for many years, this scenario would make no difference to me.. But, the physical disappearance of their religion would be devastating to the remaining few Witnesses - especially the ‘needy’ ones.
