Hey safe, I just started reading "The Celestine Prophecy"...I have found it quite interesting...having made it to a point where I feel comfortable now on my own (aka past the survival mode) I have been wanting to get more in touch with myself and my spiritual side, a friend recommended this book to me as a starting point... am just up to the part about clearing the past...

Thank you for that information you posted Valis...I think I would enjoy looking into that to. Life is such an interesting journey, isn't it?

Xena...life is most interesting...especially from whence we came...to see history, philosophy, not to mention culture through the miopic eyes of a bunch of violent sheep herders and call it our life plan is enough to keep anyone from studying cultures that were counterparts in the global timeline...The Popol Vu is like reading poetry, but within it you will find the birth of a nation that would have definitely put the smack down on any of Jehover's chosen ones any day...Also, since you are in Austin, you might want to look into the Texas Maya Meetings that happen every year on the UT campus...they have general sessions where the archeologists, anthropologists, epigraphers etc all get together and bring their new research with them...They also have Mayan language and hieroglyph classes for beginneres as part of the program...definitely worth it if you get the chance..BTW, the weekend of April 19th, easter, I'll be driving through Austin...perhaps we can hook up for lunch or something. I'll call soon.

    Sincerely,

One of the most interesting and new things it taught me was about codependence. His version is a bit different, but it works. We need to be complete in ourselves before we start looking for a mate, or we will just try to connect with someone to complete us..................which isn't fair to us or to them.

He compares it to a "C" Looking for the other half of the "C" to make a "0" or complete person. It shouldn't be that way.

    Mulan,

YES!!! Exactly! I think that's one of the (many) mistakes I've made in my life...and you're right, that isn't fair to either person. I really appreciate your input, thank you.

Xenawoman! I'm glad to hear that you're out of the survival mode and looking around you with interest again...I think often we confuse spirituality with religion when the two aren't necessarily connected. And btw, I know there are some who follow that path, so no offense meant to them, it's just not the path I've chosen. Good luck to you, hon, you know I wish you the best in your life's journey

Vassal, thanks for all of the info you've offered...definitely worth a deeper look

Hey ...it's a great book, but honestly? I don't know if I would have really appreciated it in the past. I'm not hung up so much on the prophecy part, as I am on just exploring a different perspective on relating to others and the world around me. It's definitely worth a read! Please give my love to the family

    Hello Dana,

I have not read a fiction book since Jonathan Livingston Seagull about 20 years ago ( and now I too have exceeded the sound barrier). If Joy shares I will take a look at the book you, Ven, Mulan and others have enjoyed so much.

The thought of being "connected" is the foundation of my present spirituality. Philosophically, socially, scientifically and spiritually the realization that all, that is EVERYTHING, is part of a universal whole is the beginning of understanding. As to us humans, we are what one science author referred to as 'relatively independent subtotalities'.

Looking forward to discussing this in a few weeks

    Hey Dana,

Sounds like you've reached a new phase in your life. Good for you!!

I've seen the book on the shelves before, but never read it. After what you and the others said, I might buy it next time, thanks for the recommendation.
