BACK ON TOPIC: It is nice to see other people that feel the same way about some things. Admittedly we all have different views about several things but that is what makes us individuals and this an interesting website. I enjoy openminded discussions on general and religious topics and with the exception of a few, that is what this is. When I look around at the Kingdom Hall, I feel all alone, but then I come here and see some people who are going through the same thing and can talk about it openly and I don't feel so alone anymore. Plus, my husband is very supportive and enjoys some of the threads on this site as well.

This site gave me a voice. As a non-JW partner, and a woman, I have no voice to air my thoughts to the society. I will be forever grateful for being given a place to voice my opinions.
Here, also, my concerns were validated. Wooly WT logic has no hold on me now.
Oh, yes, I have made some solid, flesh-and-bone friendships.

Hey, Ozzie told us to stay on topic in this thread! But for argument's sake, we could debate whether or not some posters are too easily given to the profligate overuse of question marks! Dedalus

Yes this board has helped me. It has helped countless others too. Reminicing about how great this used to be,....for one thing is selfish. Some of us here are here to help and support others exiting the dubs..........yet so many are concerned about THEIR opinion of the board.
The fact is.......there has not been a time that I know of in which SO MANY new ones are discovering this place and coming here and being helped. The internet is hot with lurkers like never before.
To say we have lost some intelligent poster as to make it sound as if this board is now lacking something is bullshit. There are plenty of people here that can help out a newbie as did the einsteins. It's not ALWAYS knowledge that gets people out of the dubs..........it's love and fellow feeling from us who show it to them.
By the way Fark......you stepped to an all time low with the minimus thing. ( I guess after saying that, the visit is off for us......but that REALLY sucks in the jealousy you've shown tward him.

After a few years of web surfing, I've learned a lot from the internet. I was initially interested in just the facts. I needed to know WHY the "truth" wasn't the truth. And I needed to know so that I would have no doubts. Two things were primarily my criteria. One was the Bible and the other was the Society's own words. I have seen firsthand the manipulation and lies that the Watchtower regularly uses. That's why when I hear that anyone can make a mistake because we're all imperfect, I KNOW what the whole context of truth is. I am not misled into thinking that this could be the truth. Once I got proof of the truth, I enjoy the heartfelt expressions of those here. You folks, are the backbone of what keeps us reminded of why are decisions are so correct.

ahhh, yes i have benefited greatly from this site. even though my posts/replies are scarce, i do look at the new threads a few times a week. why do i visit after over a year of "trolling"?
many of you are still reading wt literature and going to meetings. if something new comes around, this & freeminds would be the places to find it. i keep hoping for the shunning policy to change or some other detente.
it's entertaining to see the jw apologists (soj etc) get torpedoed by their own convoluted reasoning or others' superior arguing skills. even though it gets a little nasty sometimes. and annoying when biggie and tupac (uh, minimus and farkel) got beef.
i come here to be reminded of the many reasons why i left and will never go back. i come here to be affirmed in my resolve to live my life without religion even though it cost me my family and friends. i got new and better ones. i come here to know that i'm not alone in this and never was. i come here right after i post on a triathlete site. etc etc.
every group has a dynamic, and when the stronger outspoken ones leave, other people step up their game to make up for the missing parts. as long as free thought and speech are encouraged and bickering is squashed, the chemistry will continue to evolve. there's an ebb and flow to it. jmo.
