I don't think it matters. I think happiness comes from inside. A person can choose to be happy whether married or single. I'm married, and my marriage enhances my happiness and gives me other things to be happy about, but doesn't necessarily increase my happiness any more than when I was single, because my happiness is a function of myself. I don't place control of how I feel in the hands of other people.

well i hooked up with my 1st husband when i was 19. it is hard for me to remember what being single was like back then, though i know i was happy to escape from my dysfunctional family.

my first marriage was awful. we were both too young. didn't have any tools for resolving difficulties, and there were many.

divorced at 26 (same time that i left jws). highs and lows as a single for 12 years. sometimes i was happy, sometimes i wasn't. what i did learn during that time was how to take care of myself.

met mr. right and have now been very happily married for 15 years.

Exactly nowisee! That is why I've been terrified of marriage or commitment for so long. I'm afraid of commitment. I see my parents marriage and I cringe. I can't handle anymore heat.
