We received our civil rights thru the efforts of our parents, g-parents, etc. Will we protect them for us and our children and grandchildren? They’re the ones that will inherit what we do or don’t do. There may be a serious and significant threat to some of our civil rights.
I just attended a local meeting re the Patriot Act and the proposed 2 nd Patriot Act. The speakers were the director of our County library system and ACLU.
After hearing the broad powers of these Patriot Acts, I would urge every thinking American to become informed about these acts and then try to protect their own civil liberties.
Patriot Act and II unleashed a spying free-for-all . . . the new one would enable the FBI, without warrant, to pry into our phone, bank, credit, medical, and ISP records. A person who is suspected of being a terrorist or even giving lunch* to a suspected terrorist unknowingly or even if one is a material witness; this person can be held indefinitely without charge and secretly. Even a US-born citizen could have their citizenship stripped away. Activists could fall under the umbrella of terrorist activities. (latimes.com)
Some of the civil rights that can be disregarded are: no need to show probable cause; no need to get a warrant from a judge; etc.

What can you do? Plenty! This is still a democracy. After you educate yourself a bit, then you can email your congressman and search out activists’ groups who are working to rein this in.
In the county and city where I live, there are resolutions being signed for the city council and board of supervisors to urge them not to participate in the removal of Americans’ rights,
