  I'm with ThiChi on this one. Income Tax is unconstitutional! And so is the War on Drugs! My basic freedom of getting stoned on my undeclared tip income is being threatened! Well, it would be if I actually declared my tip income and didn't have the phone number of a certain Dr. Happy... you know what I mean... Hmm... What are the feds going to do, impound my hemp sarape?

  Anyway, I think that Congress is starting to wake up and give Ashcroft a hard time about his desire for more power, as well as reviewing what has happened in the past two years.

  9/11 was a huge event for America, and the whole world has been shaken because of it, but we'll get by. The press is starting to bitch about Bush again, so it's all working out.

  Patio,

  I have to admit that I feel a little uneasy about some of the laws that are being passed right now. When the government takes anything away from the people they, (government) never wants to give it back.

  The terrorist situation calls for extreme measures, but will we ever be as free again as we once were?

  I am not fond of either party, but what really can we do? Last presidential election I voted Libertarian, it did no good what-so-ever. What can we do, really, other that vote? We might make a lot of noise, demonstrate, whatever, but unless enough people decide, all at the same time, to vote 3rd party, or maybe something else, what will we accomplish?

  hmmm not really. non of the european countries i visited envied the US. so if income tax is unconstitutional what do you suppose? who is gonna pay for roads, canalisation and your beloved US military?

  I agree with you both, Yerusalyim and ThiChi, but, an instance of what rights are being violated, the Republicans are about to pass a law to appease the Democrats, and to buy votes. They are apparently going to pass the law to refund tax money to people who do not pay taxes.

  The people who will get checks for four hundred dollars or more, pay no income tax, they pay social security tax, but, they get an "earned income" refund of two or three thousand dollars, that means they get probably everything they paid in social security tax back. So, they pay nothing, then they will get a "tax refund" of several hundred dollars and also receive social security benefits. And, guess who pays the bill? I think that is violating my rights.

  The US is always looked to for leadership.....Take the mid east...if Bush had not taken action,

  You would only have been left with dictator coddling appeasers dealing with Saddam.....

  What is interesting about this, is that the provision was in the original bill. It was the Dems who voted against the provision and then tried to bring it back as a issue! Well, now even more taxes will be cut to pass what the Dems want...

  This does not bother me because the SS tax, Medicare, Payroll tax, and State Income Tax is still paid by these people.....

  However, you are right on just Pure Conservative Principles

  Borgfree--- I liked what the Libertarian party had to say . I believe had the US followed the libertarian plan that 911 would not have happened at all. They sounded so much for the reform of the constitution so that it would offer us all the rights and freedoms that it was intended to. Democrats and republicans both were to blame for incompetence .No one can blame anything on the Libertarian party as it never had the power to influence the outcome of world events. I think the taxation issue was very important and the Libertarians were that only ones to suggest the end of income tax .Why should anyone have to pay taxes to work when they give money to people who don't?

  I am disgusted with both the Democrats and Republicans. I cannot, in good conscience, vote for Democrats, because their "big tent" supports so many things that I, as a Christian, cannot support.

  I thought the Republicans would do a good job because they talked good, small government, lower taxes, do away with welfare abuse, term limits, etc., etc., but for some reason, they have forgotten so many of their "standards" once they got in office.

  I just wonder what we can actually do to make a difference. I wonder if the Libertarians, once they gained power, would be any different? I am in favor of giving them a chance.
