Telling children that there is a santa that comes down a F*****g chimeny is a liar and a deceiver, that was the first lie I heard from the bush family.

KGB, if that is the first lie, you have not been paying attention to the Bush family. Remember "Read my lips, No New Taxes?" That was said by Bush # 1.

Back to Laura. Don't pick on a librarian who was doing what all librarians do. Reading childrens books to children about Santa. My goodness. That one is feeble. You can do better. Call her a cross bred skunk.....

    Realist,

You are such a nut job. I'm following no one "blindly" I follow orders because I know that's how the military works. I disagree with a lot of the orders I get, but I follow them, whether from my military or political leaders. For instance, here at Ft Jackson, security is screwed up. The folks running it have made some bone head mistakes that I can see through. I offer my opinion, then salute smartly and follow orders as to how I'm to conduct security.

yet you would blindly have trusted him if he said lets attack iraq or syria or venezuela or whomever. how come you realize that politicians are lying pricks but at the same time fall for their patriotic bait? no matter how poorly fabricated the allegations are against a chosen target state they just have to use the word "freedom" 3 times in a sentence and you follow their lead blindly it seems.

Realist, you're too much of a cynic, and that blinds you. I'm glad I don't have to live in your world. If you think I and those like me run around talking about how great, honest, and true our political leaders are you're sorely mistaken, quite the opposite is true. The discussion now about Don Rumsfield and the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is hilarious, but private. Most soldiers aren't idealists, we're a bit more pragmatic. We follow orders because that what makes the Army work. There are things I won't fight for, I will draw the line on things. BUT, we follow orders even when we disagree with our political and military leaders because if we didn't NOTHING would get done, and the freedoms we value so much would never have been won for us. Most of us think that at least occasionally the politicians have a bit more altruism than your cynicism would allow for.

the average soldier does certainly NOT expect to get killed
No one EXPECTS to get killed, but the folks coming into the Army know they may have to lay their ass on the line. They aren't blind to the fact that soldiering means killing, and getting killed during war, and that war is a real possibility.

KGB---the santa thing was a tad over the top don't you think? I mean how many serial killers are out there in therapy because they once believed in santa? and personally I still do believe in santa.

and while some soldiers may not think about being killed or that it is a real situation, I can't see that lasting very long. the ones I know and talk to know what it is about and are prepared to handle it. books have been written about the kind of person who volunteers for that kind of life, and what their motivations are, and usually about the inevitable disillusionment after it is over. but I don't believe the boys out there now are that oblivious and naive, even if the training is less than what it was in the 60's.

realist....you beat me to the punch on that one.....lol

PR....Talking about politics is very much part of my JW heritage, as I was told to not talk about it then. BTW, this debate of American politics is part of most boards today, so this board is not an exception. It really annoys me when you guys say that you'd give your life for my freedom. War in Iraq has little to do in protecting freedom here in North America. But since the US has chosen to create further unrest in the world, I guess maybe you'll have to fight for your freedom after all. From what I read not too many around the world agree with your politics, and from the words of Powell and Bush a few days ago in regards to Iran, it is OK to protest the policies of your leaders. So what's good for the clerics in Iran, is also good for the Bush gang.

In all honesty TH I dont care if it offends you or not.
Then why should I care what offends you?
It is what I think is funny. Just like your avatar is offensive to me but you dont hear me bitching and moaning about it.
Well obviously someone has, because it keeps getting taken down.
In fact, almost every post you make is offensive to me because you seem to try and make everyone who is in the military, as well as our president, out to be some dumb ass gun toting redneck who wants to follow orders and shoot someone.
Actually this is a bold faced lie, people that are in the military aren't dumb, just certain individuals, I have said all along I support our troops, but not this administration. Get your facts right.
The fact that you and others continualy use this forum, which is SUPPOSED to be about being JW's at some point in our lives, as your own damn personal soapbox regarding political issues is aggravating as hell.
Actually this thread wasn't started by me, as many other threads have not been started by me, you people do the same exact thing, so get off your high horse, and stop being so hypocritical.
I keep quiet and throw in a comment here and there but this is pathetic. When someone disagrees with you, you turn into this ugly horrid monster who does nothing more than throw childish insults.
Really? Where did I insult you? You know what's pathetic, is people like you whining about me throwing "insults", when if you look back at many threads I have actually insulted, it started with one of you people.
Do you not grasp that most people here do not care for you, your politics, or the way you go about things around this forum???
Ask me if I care? I'm not here to placate you. Nevermind the fact you are wrong, the people that have actually met me, do actually care for me.
I know I have read MANY messages to that context.
Many messages by the same people, do not make alot of people.
Why you get away with what you do is beyond me.
Get away with what? I didn't break any rules.
    Grow up man.
    You do the same.
You live in the same country that I do, one that I have willingly signed up to defend. Wether I like you or not I would give my life if it means that you keep yours.
The difference being, I would defend this country against attack, not romp off to some forien country, and invade another, I would wiling sing up to do that.
Maybee we disagree in some issues. SO WHAT?!?!?! You have the right to say whatever the hell you please and I have the same. If I offend you, I honestly dont care. You have done nothing but talk shit on our government since the day I came to this forum. I wont give you the old.. if you dont like it why dont you leave bit. Instead, if you dont like it..... but you want to live here, then work to change it from the inside.
Uh, as a matter of fact I have been. That's what protesting is about. Peaceful protesting that is, not these rock throwing anarchist.
Dont come onto a JW forum spewing all your hatred of our current government.
LOL I just love your circular logic. " You have the right to say whatever the hell you please and I have the same ", but then you tell me to shut up. Why don't you not come to a JW Forum, that's owned by a British person, and stop flouting how wonderful the US Government is?
If you think you can do better, then run for some public office.
    Actually I am.
Make a difference! Because honestly man... all you do is annoy the shit out of people here.
I'm sure everyone here, has appointed you, they're spokesperson. LOL

PEOPLE.....THAT STORY NEVER HAPPENED!!! IT IS A LIE! WHERE IS THE PROOF??? NICE PR.....URBAN LEGEND......The kind of PR people pull for BUSH.

Claim: President Bush prayed with an injured Special Forces soldier at Walter Reed Medical Center.

    Status: Undetermined.

Origins: On 12 April 2003 the President and First Lady did pay a call upon injured servicemen being treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center. Bush awarded ten Purple Hearts, the military's honor for those wounded in combat, and participated in ceremonies in which two injured soldiers — one from Mexico and the other from the Philippines — were naturalized as U.S. citizens. He also visited with a number of servicemen undergoing treatment in those two facilities, including Marine Sgt. Eric Alva of San Antonio and Navy Corpsman Brian Alaniz of Austin, both of whom lost their right legs in the conflict with Iraq. (Alva stepped out of a Humvee and onto a mine; Alaniz stepped on another mine while rushing to help Alva.)

Aides who accompanied the President on the tour of the two hospitals report that he distributed his thanks and pride — and a few jokes — in every room. But none of the press reports we've encountered so far makes mention of the President praying with any of these wounded men, although that would not have been out of character for him.

    WHYNOT2000,

Personally knowing the Chaplain mentioned, I trust his integrity. I'll write to him and ask that he RECONFIRM the story.

I am still wondering what Trauma is going to run for...

Perhaps we can have a booster club? We can help make buttons and flyers. Whatever. An ex-JW in office. How exciting.
