This is figurative. Just as Jesus spoke of coming quickly almost two thousand years ago, and just as Jesus spoke about his figurative body at the passover, so this verse to may be speaking figuratively.
In this way, It appeared to those crucifying Jesus that he was dead, which they wanted to see. However, it only appeared that way to them; as Jesus returned.

If you are to take this sura literally, what right has anybody to say that the Quran is wrong? Or what right has anybody to say that the bible is wrong ? Does it belong to us to really know these things?
You use the Bible as the basis for your argumentation, but what makes the Bible right and true over the Quran ? Nothing does ....
You believe the Bible, because you believe the bible. Yet belief is no indication of fact.

On the subject of Mohammed denying Christ, well he doesn't. The Quran speaks of Christ, and even speaks about a miracle he performed that even the apostles didnt mention !
Also, remember, the Quran , as Muslims believe, is not the words of Mohammed. It is the words of God, through Mohammed.

Jesus, Christ was really and truly crucified, not just in appearance, or figuratively:
" He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words," Luke 24:6-8
"Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. Luke 24:45-48

The Paraclete is called the "Spirit of Truth" and not the "Holy Spirit

But again, I ask, What is truth? Do any of us know for sure ?
