As far as I have seen, religion is about money, leaders who know reality (how to make a living from other people’s need) and for people who can’t face reality (those who ‘need’ to hang on something).

I at times will go to a non-denominational church, and I have enjoyed that.
Surely you realize that non-denominational is a denomination, and it is an organized religion. I have a niece who is in that church.............it IS a denomination.
I am so burned out on religion I doubt I'll ever join another one.
Big Tex, I couldn't agree more.
To me religion is like a bad plaster. It may help cover up some of the gook but it will never help society in general. It's perfect for people who need a sense of well being and accomplishment as well as the need to be rewarded well.

Well, I have no religious affiliation. I am athiest now.
I had been agnostic, but then the more and more I saw 'christian' bigotry, I realized for myself: uh-uh...nada! nothing appealed to me, and I just stopped believing in god/s.
To those who find comfort in religion, more power to you.
As for Mouthy: as if we'd ever flame you - we love you too much .
Organised religion is a snare and a racket...and so is un-organised religion.
Religion was formed as a control mechanism, to keep the masses in line. If you leave one because you see this, be it JW, Catholic etc, why would you want to get involved in another one. They are all the same, just what they tell you to believe is different.
In my opinion, we don't need religion at all. Our conscience should be able to guide us on the rights and wrongs, we shouldn't need anyone to tell us that we will die if we don't do what they say, and all religions ultimately come down to that.
cheeses attends regular meetings conducted at a convent run by The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

I'm not a member of any religion, but I am a member of the Freedom from Religion Foundation.
I am an amalgamation of Diest, Agnostic, and Christian ... with no memebrship, aliance, or connection to any denomination ... I never go to Church. I still look the Christ as my last hope for anything to do with God. - Jim W.
