and trust me the whole family deal... over-rated.
Over rated only by people on the outside. The family deal is grossly underated by the Watchtower, thats why so many are destroyed without as much as a blush from JWs. You got it all twisted matey, there is no sin in over rating your family ties.

OK, then how about fear of loosing everything you have ever known. This applies to those who have been in for a LONG time.
As I am sure you know. When you become a JW you can no longer have any "wordly" friends. You cannot hang out with the people from work. There are even restrictions on how much time you can spend with unbelieving family. If you are in for a while and the people in the troof are all you have... that can be very difficult to leave. Especially for people such as myself who have a somewhat hard time making new friends due to shyness and the such.
Being DF'd, or leaving... then having all the people you have ever cared about treat you like shit is not a good deal. If you leave and you have been a good dub... you will have noone to turn to. Noone will be there to comfort you and stand behind the decision you have made.
Its like being in prison for a long time. After so long... that is the only life you know. In there you are a somewhat important person, when you leave... you are nothing to everyone. Its scarry to be all alone.

Is that my "suave" soldier talking here?
I think pr, is right, though. It's hard to make new friends when your past is so radically different from everyone elses. A person born in the JWs has a childhood so foreign from middle America's! Where's the commonality of history, even, with the people one tries to relate to? Isn't there. Which is why ex-JWs feel so awkward. And which is why this board is such a comfort. Other ex-JWs "know." That's very valuable.
Why are YOU here, having left, 'view, if it's all good now?

capone... again... I hear ya, I hear ya I have been through every bit of it... no questions there.
But Im sure there are more people here that have more reasons than JUST family... common now... come out with it.... Why are you still there if you hate it soooo much?
Those like capone... reach out to your families, tell them that you are having doubts, reach out to an elder, they are there to serve the cogregation... reach out and tell them your concerns. If your still going... Im sure you still belive in A god, pray.... when is the last time that you did pray?
Hey, again, Im not trying to encourage anyone to stay or go... but your life will be filled with less meaning if you are not true to yourself.

I've noticed that you use the word "sooooo" quite a bit. Also a lot of words in ALL CAPS.
It would be better if you would discuss JW issues on this forum without so much sarcasm and condescension.

come see my personal library ... when I say I have searched, I have searched... when I say I have attended many many churches, I mean I have attended and used thier bibles, when I say that Im still searching, I mean Im still searching
What Im also saying is... god its sad to see so many of you lost and not knowing what to do with yourself. Many of you cant even answer simple questions.
WHY DONT YOU LEAVE? the congregation if you hate it so bad... and this question only applies to those who are doubting, hating, yet still attending.

Hey now... lets not point to age as I am younger yet I am arguing on the right side now!
AOVP - Ok, I'll bite. Lets say that this person who stays in the JW's despite everything has no family and/or friends in the troof. How about the basic human need to feel part of something? He sees these people who seem to be happy, and will accept him no matter how odd or wierd he may be as long as he follows the rules. He is happy to follow along, all the time knowing how fucked up their thinking is, just to belong to something. I've known many people like that.

I feel I should point out that I am out... VERY out of the troof and no longer attend. Just feel like I might be able to answer this question. *shrugs*
