Face/Pyramids on Mars! What do you think?

  IF that is discovered to be a correct conclusion...

  WHAT would be so illogical about intelligent beings having lived on mars LONG AGO and having remnants of their homes/cities/dwellings discovered by US?

  Absolutely nothing illogical about that whatsoever. Although the data seems to indicate to me that Mars if indeed it ever was warm and wet (which is still a very tentative conclusion) was not that way for long enough for an intelligent civilization to evolve. Nonetheless, we don't know that time-scale for life to develop/civilize.

  But I want evidence of this race.

  This would definitely be more convincing than a mountain which happens to look like a face. I have a picture of a crater on Venus here which looks like a face too. I'd scan it if I had a scanner [it's the multiple crater Lillian in the Guinevere region of Venus (25.6N, 336.0)]. It looks like a big ghostly face.

  An intelligent race, and this is the best evidence for it? When we've been to the surface of the moon 3 times and mapped the surface in great detail?

  The "face" hardly counts for this kind of rationalistic approach anyway. Unless these creatures (1) could see into the future to know what our faces look like (2) happened to evolve to look very much like us or (3) are actually our descendents who moved to earth when Mars got to cold and subsequently descended into barbarism. The last one would make a good Sci-Fi story (probably already has).

  The illogical part of all this is the contention that the scientific community as a whole is collectively engaged in a massive cover-up of the evidence.

  It's amazing to me how the conspiracy theorists accuse real scientists and skeptics of making assumptions. They are the ones assuming that there is a huge cover-up by the government. What these people don't realize is that scientists are not controlled by any one government. NASA is not the only space exploration organization on the planet. Other governments have been involved in space exploration and have access to a lot of the same information that NASA does - and a whole heck of a lot more information than the conspiracy theorists do. Do you really think that the American government can keep a cover-up like this under wraps? We can't even keep our National Security secrets secret! So where is the concrete data, besides fuzzy photos and rampant speculation?

  With all of the thousands of square miles photographed and mapped on the surface of Mars is there any question why there might be at least a few funky looking natural artifacts? Add to that the fact that Mars had different erosion characteristics that Earth, it's easy to understand why we might find weird looking mountains. Also, the fact that human seem to see human faces pretty easily (on the moon, clouds, etc.) it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that all we have here is an interesting rock formation and a whole lot of active imaginations run wild with baseless speculation.

  I was "locked-out" of this thread all of yesterday.
  MOMMY told me that it was the Shadow Government jamming me because I KNOW TOO MUCH!!

  Look, I ain't putting all scientists in the same class.
  There are honest scientists and dishonest ones, just like in any other profession.
  I read someone describe the NASA/JPL scientists as belonging in two groups (concerning the Mars Mysteries issues) - The Owls and The Roosters.

  (if you've ever watched the series "X-Files" or "Millennium", you'll know what I mean)

  Of course, there are conspiracies and cover-ups and dark secrets with, by and for the United States government. (and other governments)

  Despite the Screwups of late, the government can keep secrets. What the hell do they have the Intelligence Community for? CIA, NSA, NSC and the acronyms continue... and there are purported to be some agencies that are so BLACK, they don't even have acronyms.

  What involvement do some of these agencies with agendas have, with regard to the potential discovery of alien artifacts on planets or moons in our Solar System? What influence might they have over the higher-ups in the Space Agencies? What influence do the directors of the Space Agencies have over the scientists on the government payroll?
  What does the term 'compartmentalization of information' mean?

  IF there are secrets held, information suppressed, that the taxpaying public has a right to know - then I'm hoping some scientist(s) "in the know" will have something similar to Ray Franz - A Crisis of Conscience !

  I am sure thats already happened. I am also sure that the brave, yet unfortunate person(s) have been forced to take their Conscience to the grave with them

  Thats exactly like finding a carved head of the Queen and saying its a natural formation and tricks of the light making it appear in the likeness of the Queen. Wow, what a coincidence.

  You are telling me that you've never seen interesting cloud formations? Clouds that look like dogs, faces, cars, etc? There certainly doesn't need to be any intelligence to create a form that looks like something under certain circumstances and at certain angles and lighting. Richard Dawkins has a great example in his book "Climbing Mount Improbable" of a rock on earth that looks like a sculpted face from certain angles, but we know it's just a natural formation.

  Geez. This is getting ridiculous. Exactly what queen does this face look like? Oh, no one in particular? Just a face? Yeah, you've convinced me of both past intelligent life on Mars and a huge worldwide conspiracy to cover-up the amazing discovery. Sometimes I wonder if there is any intelligent life on Earth!
