Iran Says It Holds al-Qaida Operatives

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran said Monday that it was holding top members of the al-Qaida terror group.

"A large number of small and big-time elements of al-Qaida are in our custody," Intelligence Minister Ali Yunesi told reporters Wednesday. He did not name any of the detainees.

Yunesi declined to comment on media reports that Iran is holding al-Qaida's No. 2, Ayman al-Zawahri, the group's spokesman Suleiman Abu Ghaith or its security chief Saif al-Adil.

The announcement came two days after President Bush accused Iran, as well as Syria, of harboring terrorists - a charge Tehran and Damascus have denied.

"Wherever we learn of some clues about people connected to al-Qaida, we launch intelligence operations and arrest them. We are firm on this because we consider it our duty to do so," Yunesi said at a press conference after a Cabinet meeting at Iran's presidency.

Iran said last month that it was holding talks with foreign intelligence services, including Britain's, over the fate of its detained members of the al-Qaida terror group.

Have you seen the news about all those graves from Saddam's regime? So many victims from Saddam's hate and wrath against his own people. *sigh!* Especially when the graves came from nearby all of the prisons where the victims have been tortured and killed. It's scary when one speaks out against someone like Saddam and they end up 6 feet deep.

Just watching the news about the operation to get the brothers inside the villa.

There were four men inside armed with light weapons. Now the British SAS would have probably used 2 teams of 4 men to raid the building and depending on the orders they would have wiped them out.

Now the American tactic was to attack the building using over 200 soldiers, bomb the crap out of it for a few hours and then on the third attempt, got inside and killed the remaining live targets (the ones that weren't killed by the missiles)

And the General was going on about how the US Army again proved its worth.....

well, most everyone....except for will who insists on using every thread of this type as a soapbox for his political opinions, and prisca who thinks this could just be a huge media conspiracy.......but yes, it is nice to see so many on opposite sides agreeing that its a good thing those two bastards are dead.

question for anyone against the death penalty.......were these two deaths just?
