  NEW: The satan image is a false representation, anything "pagan" became a symbol of "anti-christian", but it was the christians who seemed to get off on torture and perverted symbolisms of the "anti god". If you are looking for twisted perverse pleasure.... stick with Christianity.... The cloven-hooved, horned god, has little to do with any of that stuff. pm either of us, and I am sure we can send you some good links. You may be a little dissappointed, there are no sacrificing virgins and you dont get to kill anything, and this path is not without taking responsibility for your actions. It DOES include a concience, and respect for other living things.

  New, there are pedophiles in all religions. I wasn't saying all Satanists are pedophiles, or that all those interested in Satanism are victims. It happens in some Satanist religions, but I'm sure not all of them.

  That's why I asked you what your kind of Satanism was. Obviously, what I think of as Satanism and what you think of as Satanism are two different things. I was hoping you would enlighten me with your views and beliefs so I can have a less one-sided picture. I am open minded and sincerely interested.

  Welcome, new.

  My main objection to satanism is that it dismisses ordinary folk as "the herd," who serve no purpose but to be exploited by satanists and others "in the know". It's kind of like the KKK attitude but extended to the entire human race.

  Pure crap, that is. I'm pretty adventurous religiously, but there are two things I don't respect. One is legalism and the other is a disregard for the Golden Rule. Both are forms of disrespect for fellow-travelers in the universe, and I don't have to put up with it, goddammit!

  Try websurfing "Isaac Bonewits satanist" and you'll come across his brief sojourn w/ Anton LaVey. He was not impressed. Also check out the Ontario Centre for Religious Tolerance; they have a thoughtful essay on Satanism, and a linklist.

  Now, a lot of professing satanists do live by the Golden Rule, whether they admit it or not. These particular fools I suffer gladly. (Ravyn, just FYI, I'm not calling you any kind of fool, OK?)

  Why "worship" anything at all, visable or invisable? Does your term "worship" mean giving it power over you? If so, it is obvious YOU are in control and chose to surrender power to some other intity, be it a governing body or a micro-god! Most people worship ideas, ideas that are intellectually confounding and without substance in logic or evidence. Find and idea that has imperical proofs, test it in your life and if it works, then feel free to ply fealty to it. Life is much less complicated if you use a modicum of scientific methodology.

  Well as I understand it there are a breed of Satan worshippers who gravitate to dark practises in rebellion against the "light" of Gods laws.These are black Satanists and I see no reason to hold their beliefs and practise taking advantage of others deliberately. But then there are other "Satan" worshippers who consider the Biblical God to be a force of evil and a devil disguised as light. These "satan " worshippers worship "Gods" antithesis, Lucifer the bringer of light, who wishes men to have knowledge and to grow. I practised some ritual with a group that held this belief, so even though they paid homage to Lucifer they considered themselves to be doing good works.
