Seems as though the number of baptisms even for the young ones is down from what people report here. At my former hall the young ones are All In totally sheltered even while going to school. Expressing thier desires to Pioneer etc. So what gives, what's the difference between those kids that seem to be awake and those that are not? -

I don't think the current exodus of youth is a huge change compared to previous decades. In the 1960s, of the 9 children of JWs with whom I went to school, most dropped out of the organization early on. Of those who remained, there was little zeal. I also acknowledge that, of those who leave when they are young, some return when they're older - for a variety of reasons.
What has changed more recently are the consequences of leaving because the organization is pushing as never before the need for children to get baptized. Once baptized, leaving takes on a different colour: You'd better keep your head down and your life on the quiet side because those elders will sniff you out and threaten expulsion unless you repent and come back.

We have a high schooler. The schools are teaching critical thinking skills, something the JW's don't teach.
The kids also see straight through the JW hypocrisy. These kids have been born equipped with a laptop/I pad. Telling these kids not to go on the worldwide web is like telling a fish it needs no water.

I believe its the tablets. By making available Watchtower apps for download, the org has given many young ones the ammunition they need to pressure their parents to get them tablets. The orgs push in IT has resulted in more JWs having tablets than otherwise would have. More tablets = more internet access = more access to the ugly truth about Watchtower posted online = more young ones waking up. -

I have a talk with the CO. He mentioned indirect (it was a blabla about the youth) that the elders hold young once back from baptism. He mean their own childs and other childs. So maybe a lot of elders can't understand all the moves (new light) and try to hold back the youth until they understand themselve the way of the GB.
Also the internet. Nearly every place is occupied by TTATT - newsarticle got comments, big platforms like this here build (thanks Simon), if you want to start at reddit a pro-witness-sub you can't win (there also some language-forks like Spain or Germany) - so if you check a fact online, there's a high risk to read about TTATT. Also if you read at jw.org about some older stuff like the photo-drama of creation (there is an article at jw.org) and research this to see this "100-Year-Old Epic of Faith" (https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/w20140215/photo-drama-of-creation/) you will see, that it's crap. If you do more research, you look at apostate-sites.

I agree with everyone. I'm 16 and the easy access to the internet I get from having a tablet has really helped me to learn ttatt (although I had doubts before). The few kids at the hall who are genuinely zealous must either have limited access to the internet or just be really stupid. -

I believe it is two part, with the internet being the top reason.
( TTATT is always just a click away )Second, is the sheer embarrassment of admitting to being a JW to any non-JW.
It's like openly declaring that evidence is of no importance to them and a life of blatant ignorance and blind trust is preferred.
When you are unable to defend, question, explain or have pride in your faith, it's all over.

Internet access for early teens is no longer on the family PC in a room where everyone looks over your shoulder like it was just ten years ago.
A relative of mine has two kids with an age gap of ten years. The older one aged 25 had on line access only via the family computer from age 14 - the same year he got baptised. He didn't get a laptop or smart phone until about 5 years ago aged 20.
The younger - aged 15 now who is not baptised and who is thankfully showing a waning interest in becoming a jw had his own smartphone aged 12.
Chuck jwtvorgasm.online in the mix and it's got to accelerate the waking up process!
