For young ones to be able now with the use of internet to have a glimpse of some GB members' faces on TV.ORG may prove to be a distressing experience, generating a desire to run for cover.

The internet is just a click away from the official site.

AND The official site is doing a great job of waking people up with its weirdness.....

Well, the old timers are dying off faster than the BORG can re-brand or recoup their losses. The writing was on the wall pre-1995 generation/dogma "adjustment." ( Which is why the BORG changed that "idea" that the GB loved." The BORG has also enjoyed a 33% retention rate for some time.

The Information Age is also killing them. It's difficult to police the thoughts of curious children, espescially if one parent ( like me 😈) is actively encouraging logical thinking.

    1. The ease of research on the internet makes it simple to find TTATT

    2. Schooling has changed to now encourage college level classes, charter schooling of the arts, etc. All of this shows JW youth that there is more to life and more options for them...more then just pioneering or getting married

    3. The general attitude of Gen Xrs and Millenials is 'prove it'. We dont just follow and believe what we are told...so when it comes to everything JWs are taught, the consensus is 'prove it'...show me...why?! And if we cant find it on the internet then it probably doesnt exist.

    4. Lastly, these same generations I fall under is more about challenging authority then following it. That can be both good and bad as that tends to cause a lack if respect at times, but we are more about learning and leading then following. The rank & file idea seems outdated, as does a lot of the expectations set out for them.

    5. Young people are NOT stupid! - hahaha. They want more: independence, money, fun, freedom. Does the org offer an abundance of that? Hell to the no.

Babygirl, nice comment! If you're a millennialist, I must assume you spend your time tweeting while you work a GameStop.

Religion as a whole is having a harder time.

This is reflected in all groups but most especially in the younger segment of the population.

When people dont want to be somwhere, all it takes is a trickle at first to encourage others and then you have a flood of leavers.

Young people are internet savvy. They have Google at their fingertips on their iPhones. If they are not home schooled, and are in a decent school district, then they are taught the fallibility of The Flood and the Genesis Account, etc etc. and they are taught to question everything (aka critical thinking). Plus questioning everything (esp authority) is part of being a teenager anyway.

Plus I think young people are a lot more informed about sexuality (they have to be to protect them) and that just peaks their interest and experimentation, and they quickly discover that "a little taste of heaven" right now is much better than "waiting on Jehovah" for Paradise.

I think for young kids, it is not just the internet on its own. Kids coming out of school now are really the first generation that have been using the internet for most of the time as part of their schooling. Even primary school kids these days are required to use the internet to do research, prepare projects, reports, presentations etc. They are also taught how to tell if info on the internet is reliable or not.

In addition (as others have mentioned) these days they often research something on a tablet or phone.

As a result, they see the internet as reliable and neutral. I think they tend to trust info on the internet more than any individual adult, which is fantastic.
