I used to be paid to worry about things like that, as I once was a security consultant. I'm no longer following that career but I think a lot about the future and the deleterious problems facing our society. IMHO, the fear promoted and developed by the Bush administration has more to harm people and cause depression than the actual 9/11 attacks. To be fair, the media is also to blame for the sensationalistm. I truly know how fear of what may happen can rob you of your happiness, but we also need to have a balance of enlightened awareness that helps us avoid needless risks. To effectively lower the real threats to our safety in this country, we need political and social reform that will address the terrorist problem and the other synergistic problems facing our country. What I fear more than another terrorist attack, is our collective failure of a nation to make these changes at home that I fear more.

Totally agree with you on this! Have you seen Bowling for Columbine yet?
I also agree with Drwtsn. It's far less likely something will happen on Sept. 11th or even in September then it would some other month.
My question for you Mini is this...(in big bold print so you're sure to see and respond...hee hee, you're not the only one who can ask questions)...Do you live in New York City? Or Chicago, or some other metropolis of a city? Unless you do, your chances of being in a terrorist attack are greatly diminished. Me for example. I live in freakin Minnesota, and even a rural area. Nothing is going to happen here. Does that mean I don't care about my fellow Americans--no, it just means there is really nothing I can do about it, and worrying won't help anyone.
Sadness, and loss I understand. This fear and anxiety I can't wrap my head around. Perhaps it is my location, but I know of PLENTY of people in my own little home town that stock up on ammo and food supplies the moment they hear we are on "Orange Alert". To me that doesn't make sense.

Joannadandy asked me: "Have you seen Bowling for Columbine yet?
Yes. It was an interesting movie showing how fear makes you nuts. lol I'm looking forward to his next explosive film about the real story behind 9/11. I've already heard outcries that it is going to stir things up quite a bit. I just hope it is as good as his past work.

I live very close to a metropolitian city in the northeast and my business takes me there throughout the week. I am more concerned with the results of living with terrorism than I am of dying because of it.

Terrorists do not need an anniversary -because it is an anniversary the security will be ver ytight -- so if I were a terrorists I would not do anything in that month -- I would be patient -- I also think that the UK would make a juicy target and not necessarily the US -- so to answer the question directly --no I am not worried

I live in DC. I'm not worried at all. Of course, this city probably has more people watching over it than any other. But even if I were in some other large city where security was not as tight, I wouldn't be worried.

Nope.....even tho I live in the "Golden Triangle", (black gold), I know that a LOT of the U.S. oil is imported, so they'll prolly attack Arabia or Kuwait before they try to blow us off the map....and....personally, I think the 9/11 attack gave our Government Security Agencies enough of a black eye that they'd BETTER NOT let another attack slip by! YA HEAR ME, GB?

I am not afraid for myself, but for my family members who work in Downtown Manhattan.
There was an article just yesterday about the fear of many in New Jersey when commuting to the City (NYC) by train. Many people were interviewed and said that the bags and suitcases on trains are never searched and there is no security seen anywhere when boarding and leaving the trains and train station. That would make this a very easy target for a terrorist with a suitcase bomb. And, if this bomb is a radiological one, the effects would be even wider spread. One woman said that she prays every day she goes to work and back to return to home safely. So sad.
President Bush will be giving a speech to the US on Monday night, some of which will focus on the terror threat level now in America. No matter what he says in this speech about the progress being made in the war on terror, the threat of terrorism will forever be with us. As long as the technology is there, there will be people who will use it to kill.
There are going to be many services in our area on 9/11. The family members of those lost that day will be ferried across from New Jersey to the WTC where there will be a rememberance service. I have my own memories of that day, which will always haunt me.
