WingCommander - EXACTLY! I posted that yesterday but didn't hear anything on news (just read on ticker tape) so more evidence the insane will obtain weapons unlawfully.

If you have a mentally unstable person living with you, and you leave a gun on the kitchen table and go to work, only to come home and realize this person went out and killed 25 people, you can't just shrug your shoulders and say ... " well it's not the gun's fault, it's the mental disease". Of course it's the mental disease, but you made it incredible easy for this to happen and that's part of question.

Yes. Of course, with every right comes a responsibility, and in a scenario like that, whomever that gun belonged to would incur massive (criminal, even?) liability for failing to secure their weapon.

No one is suggesting that we start passing out weapons to the Trick-or-Treaters.

The problem is identifying who is unstable and will act. A post on a different forum is about a knife attack in china. It goes into knife control, not carrying a tool, not selling sharp or pointed knives. I am sure china can jail someone far easier than the US.

I am facing serious health concerns, and if certain things come to pass it is time to sell my guns. When I retrieve them from the safe should I be red flagged so I cannot have needed funds for myself and family? Just because I may be suicidal.

    RESOLUTE BANDICOOT:

That list says a lot. The first thing a repressive (or would-be repressive) government would seek to do is disarm its citizens. Then the citizens would be helpless against criminals and even the authorities (that they would need protection FROM)..The citizens would literally be sitting ducks.

But your list would only make sense to intelligent people who don’t want to see history repeat itself!

Venezuela confiscated all the guns and then released all the criminals -- what more could you ask for!

I would be interested to know how many gun owners believe that a gun equals security?

When faced with an incident, how do you think you would go?

How often do you participate in active shooter, high pressure drills? What about training that involves protecting loved ones as well as dealing with the imminent threat? Once a year? Every few years? Never?

I hear a lot of talk about how guns make you safe but unless you really know your stuff you might end up shooting yourself in the arse before you manage to deal with the problem.

I follow a YouTuber named Tim Pool. If you don’t know him, I think he’s worth following. Politically, he sits left of center. At least that is how he describes himself. To me, he is more classical liberal than modern liberal. Anyway, he was putting on an event in support of free speech recently, and he started to get some threats (#Antifa). A man showed up at his house @ 4AM, and then returned the next day as he was filming a video. The call to the police was captured live.

Later, he said, the officers were very helpful, and very quick to come to his house. But Tim admits, due to the threats, the officers kindly suggested that he exercise his second amendment rights. Sometimes you can’t wait for the police to arrive.

FYI - what kind of idiot thinks you, your Dodge Durango, and an AR15 is gonna put down the 6ths Armored Division - when the GOP Government you LOVE so much comes to getcha.

OHHH I KNOW!!!!! The same that used to believe that the UN Armies were gonna Destroy Babylon the Great!

    Gun LOVERS are deranged.

    Gun LOVERS, not owners.

Given the the 6th Armored no longer exists, I don't think that would be an issue. If you used the 6th as a substitute for the US military, the Federal government is pretty much prohibited from using the Federal military to enforce domestic law within the United States. Even if the Federal military was used it doesn't mean the military would prevail. North Vietnam did fairly well and they didn't have one Dodge Durango. And the Taliban seems to be holding there own, but they seem more like Toyota people, not Dodge people. The National Guard might be used, but many of the Guard people I know are pretty strong supporters of the 2nd Amendment. I guess it all depends how committed the pro gun people would be to their cause.

I hear gun "lovers" say they would die for the 2nd Amendment ("from my cold, dead hands!). I don't hear many of them say they would kill for the 2nd Amendment. When the gun laws are passed, I don't see a bloody civil war breaking out. Gun ownership as we know it will fade away with barely a whimper.
