For those of you who disagree with my post, here is the question that was asked
"What "good thing's" would you be willing to give the Jw's credit for????? "
So, for just a second, try to be objective and compartmentalize your disgust in the WT. Realizing they have many, many negative aspects that are not justified by their positive aspects, the question remains the same, "What "good thing's" would you be willing to give the Jw's credit for?????"
I am willing to give them credit for instilling good morals, or at least trying to. No lying, no swearing, no stealing, no smoking, no violence, no sex out of marriage, strong families, obeying laws, paying taxes, being polite, etc. I will give them credit for trying to instill these morals.

"Their booklet, 'Legally Establishing The Good News' cites cases wherein..."
"Do they seriously have a text called 'Legally Establishing The Good News' ?"
Yes, indeed, Captain!!!
But HAD is the operative and more accurate description. This booklet is from the 40's, I think. I remember seeing it in the 50's. It is older than most posting here. I suspect that it is "out of print"; it is certainly dated, though parts of it might still be useful. Case references would certainly be still useful.
Also, I believe it was of limited circulation, NOT for the average Joe Publisher and NEVER for the public. I've seen a "Circuit Servant" and a "Congregation Servant" referring to it while I was talking to the Police in Field Service.
The real intention of this booklet was for reference material by the Servants or leaders of a congregation confronting a legal adversarial problem.
In the 50's it was not unusual to run afoul of the laws when a congregation was formed. The 40's was rampant with legal activities. This booklet is a legacy of those bygone days. eLDERS were still 20-30 years yet to come.
I would guess that more than 99 percent of JW's would never know of its existence. I have indeed "cracked its covers".
Also, I believe that the title is slight longer than that... where to find reference material on this is another story...

Agreed: for the record, THEY TRY. But, "new light" (directives), unwritten policies and admonition are frequently at cross-purposes to any good intentions.

I agree with the public speaking comment. I Personally benifited from that. In my line of work( I own a marketing co) I have to deal with a lot of rejection and I think going from door to door built me up for that as well the thocratic ministry school prepared me to be able to speak clearly and inteligently. I am not saying that these qualities could not be learned anywhere else. But in my case it helped.

Are these THE standards for good morals OR your opinion about what being moral is? Smoking is not a moral issue, it is a health issue. no violence is a subjective opinion. no sex out of marriage is a modern social construct. What constitutes a strong family? What is lying and stealing? This needs defining. As a peace advocate and married man these may seem odd statements, but they are founded upon an awareness that MY opinions are not the end all of a matter. Many of the standards above can be agreed upon by a majority and yet not merit social censure if others choose to act differently.
Imposing a code is not teaching morality.
It still comes down to tolerence and education.
