I have known several over the years. Many are accerbated (sp) because the WTS will not admit they and their representatives are not trained physicians, psychiatrists, or psychologists. They downgrade the efforts of such ones. How many of you would let an elder perform surgery on you, perhaps an appendectomy? Yet, these same men are allowed to mess with people's minds. How many elders can diagnosis illnesses and prescribe medication. If you needed insulin, would you go to an elder? Good luck.

I knew one JW woman who jumped in front of a subway train. She was middle aged, had 2 children, and her husband was a longtime elder. All his family and hers were JW's. She suffered from depression for some time, and while I don't know for certain, I was told that she didn't receive professional treatment. Many people were devastated by her suicide.

one family member - my aunt 13 yrs old and baptized by drowning - after years of abuse and the cover-up when the elders found out. She was sent away to "protect her from the abuser"

one friend in her 30's baptized mother of 3 young children by drowning - after an abusive childhood and life-long depression that the elders gave her a hard time about and disapproved of her getting therapy for insisting she get to more meetings, service and pray more

both of the above were terrified of water. When my friend was baptized in a swimming pool it took them almost 2 hours to get her dunked because of her fear of the water. She never lost the fear but died a few years later swimming in the ocean in Florida.

The really odd thing is no witness that knows of these two cases thinks it is odd that these women who were terrified of water both drowned accidentally. They don't want to consider the possibility that they took their own lives. History is rewritten again

and I know of one young man (a teen I believe) in a cong my mother was going to who hanged himself after being DFed. It was minimized "he was weak and guilt of sin" - no thought that maybe being shunned by his own family and everyone he knew might have had something to do with it

and well although I was too scared to try I certainly spent a lot of time planning it

I know of a brother that took his life about 10 years ago. My sister-in-laws twin brother took his life last year. He was a elder.

My father also took his life in Oct. of 1996. Tryed many times to be a witness, but couldn't quit smoking.

I deleted alot that I wrote, it was hard to write, so I thought it might be too hard to read. That's all I'll say for now.

I know two ( the remnant) 85,82 years old who killed themselves an 18 year old two years a go...I have heard of many over the years ( when I was a JW)Just couldnt understand how they could want to leave such a CLOSE family !!!!!! The Watch Tower.!!!!... Wasnt to many years later I was trying to do it to myself.After they DF me. Boy am I glad I didnt have the guts.... I have so many wonderful friends now...( I did have wonderful friends in the WT too-who wont speak to me until I say Jesus did come in 1914)

No but I know of four that have made a serious attempt with overdoses of pills - some happened in the 1980s -- and do you know they were actually publicly reproved for it -- how heartless and sick is that?

My cousin blew his own head off, but after leaving the JWs...his whole family was plagued by mental illness and throw having to be a JW on top of it....eh...double crazy.

When I was little, a brother in our Congregation killed himself. I think there have been a couple others in neighbouring congregations.

I can understand the despair of those trapped in the WTS or looking for a way out without any support.
