How can you expect children to WANT to be JW's when all they know is a life of service and studying; a life that is so different from the happy-go-lucky kids around them.

Thats why they train them as babes.. So that they don't know any different. This dysfunctional life appears normal because you don't know that there is a real life out there where there is time to watch cartoons on Saturday mornings instead of be in service and you can join the basketball team at school or go to the prom etc etc. If you are taught study study study, meetings meetings meetings, service service service OVER AND OVER.. What else do you know?? Nothing.

When I told my brother I was not going to be a JW any more, he said to me WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD.

Not the world where you are told to do more and more and more of an unattainable "enough' to please anyone while you sacrifice everything else in your life.

I knew some CO's that used to FREAK when everyone was gone on vacation during the summer. Many took it and themselves very seriously.

You know what? Maybe witnesses need to take a saturday off, to catch up on some yard work, or to sleep in, or to LIVE LIFE... spend time with they're wife and kids.

You can spend time with wife and kids while out in service...didn't you know that?

But ultimately, the real problem with it, is that it relies completely on fear for motivation. There is no "love of Jehovah" in their service. The little boy picks up speed because he is in terror of his life! So the CO is trying to create a fear based rush of service. The problem is that kind of energy simply cannot last - if it does, you'd better get some valium because you'll probably have a heart attack! The kid is probably already on Ritalin, he doesn't need somebody behind him spurring him on!

It's always the threat of Armageddon--create fear that if we don't preach, people will be destroyed. That's the idea I got from our CO's last visit which was last week. Also that the congregation has to work harder because our average is down due to a few more publishers becoming regular pioneers. We all must work to get that average back up!! (CO said this with a warning look in his eye.)

same ol same ol. Do more, work harder, give more money, more time, more effort. JW's never are given the biblical compliment "Well done."

OR it's "well done" in this area but you gave so much attention to it, you neglected "that area."

All the Circuit Overseers care about is NUMBERS. When was the last time you remembered a CO taking an active interest in YOU? Haha.

This CO is a company man. His philosophy is "Just do it".

As with the majority of CO's--they don't live in the real world.

That's the biggest insult you can give a Bethelite or CO.......Telling them to join the "REAL WORLD". They don't want to deal with that. They just want us to take care of them.

I have a question, having never been a CO or CO's wife, nor brave enough to ask them this,

Are COs evaluated by the numbers in the congregation they are visiting?

For example, does the DO come and say, "Brother CO, I see you have 10 congregations below the national average. You're going to have to get those numbers up or your next assignment will be in North Dakota, if you get what I mean?"

Amazing... they want everyone to stay in a 100% mode. That is just impossible! If they are already at 100%, then what will they do when there is a crisis? Oh, wait a minute... they are in a crisis! Everyone is LEAVING.

You can't run all the time, otherwise you will drop from exhaustion.
