@ jhine and Finkelstein...
Not to mention that if they're already baptized from a young age and learn the TATT in their teens or early twenties, the threat of disfellowshipping can be used to muzzle them, or prevent anyone from listening if the threat is followed through on.
Hate to be a stuck record, but for numberless young ones, baptism is actually the first step in leaving/fading. That's surely a plus.
Being baptized drives home the starkly anti-climactic nature of life as a Witness.
The huge pre-baptism build-up and rah-rah-rah, the heady dollop of emotion-based "public" approval from one's brothers and sisters, followed by the crashing post-baptism letdown and boredom.
The terrible shame is, once baptized as a child, you are perhaps more vulnerable than ever before to your brothers' and sisters' approval, or as the case may be, disapproval.
I could hardly read thru this .... omg feel the claustrophobia! Yes just like the "Hotel California" you can check in but ....you can't check out! What an evil trap! Watchtower is the ultimate CHILD SNATCHERS!
This organization is wrong on so many levels:
* Child abuse 2 witnesses rule! Hide the pedophile & silence the child!
* Prohibiting lifesaving medical treatment! Providing thugs to stand over you to make sure you let your children die!
* Lifetime df & shunning & spiritual stoning for made-up reasons, causing high numbers of suicides!
* Coercion (complete with threats of death) to be baptized while young!
Shall I go on.................

Finkelstein: The men who run the WTS. want children to get baptized so they can officially and rigidly control them. Thats the real reason, its about power and control, don't be fooled by anything else. They know that children are enormously influenced by their parents and the rest of the congregation.. . . In the end its all about mentally indoctrinated people and taking control over peoples lives to further exploit them for work and money.

I asked my wife this morning what she thought of the part, she said she didn't agree with it. - fmf
I am so happy for you. Small steps are better than a huge leap. Steady and slow is the best way to wake up. There will be more things in the future she doesn't agree with either. School friends, extra curricular activities, higher education. The possibilities are there.
Just keep asking her opinion now and then.
Take care
