Sorry ComatoseAndChained, you forget that people have barbecued other people because they believed they had the right interpretation of your supposedly inspired book. People have killed others based upon a presupposition that they are right, just like you have a presupposition that you are right.
Just bleating 'it's inspired' won't do. People have died or had their lives ruined over disputes over scripture, and you want your own opinion held up and bowed to? What coinceit!
Because that is what you are doing if you say "The Bible is not a book to be proved ; it's not a scientific treatise where you prove and disprove based on theories and logic. The Bible is a book of Faith and Belief".
What you are effectively saying is "I will ignore all the signs that this book was made up by Bronze Age pastoralists as a "Mien Kamp' for the invasion of what is now Israel, because I am so sure that I am right that facts can be ignored".
How 'modest', how 'meek', how... sad.
You come to us preaching when in fact your heart is so far removed from anything that a real Christ may or may have not preached that you bring the faith and divine person you claim to represent into disrepute.
This isn't about sharing your beliefs with us, this is about you being convinced you are right to the extent you refuse to discuss the possibility that you are wrong to use the Bible in the way that you do.
So, roll-up roll-up; in all of recorded history, you have got it right, we listen to you and we'll be fine, even if you refuse to defend your beliefs in any meaningful fashion.
Yup, god has decided to put the rest of the world right using you, a keyboard, and an Internet connection.
Don't make me laugh; I've met people I admire as Christians, people who (despite my own beliefs) I admire for actually practcing what Jesus is meant to have preached, people who can talk about their beliefs without arrogance or avoidance. Truth need not hide from debate, and that is all you've done really, hide from debate over any question of the Bible's claim to be an inspired book..
What a super-fine-attitude; so at contrast to the Boreans. Do you think if they had investigated scripture and found it false they would have believed? Or that they would refuse to investigate scripture because they were so consumed with self-impoirtance and pride they were convinced that they were right no matter what evidence was produced to the contrary?
Be very very careful; there's posters here you think they are Jesus, or that God talks to them daily. You're so close to becoming that dillusional it isn't funny.
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh to you, but I am very concerned about your future happiness if you allow yourself to be seduced by self-importance and vanity.
(and sticking a smiley at the end of it), is just evasion.
You are basically setting yourself up to believe what you like, as textual interpretation offers infinate subtlty for your own self-deciet to play with. You're on a slippery slope that some people here have slid down; you'll end up a confused mess who is basically so obsessed with proving they are right (which they can;t do) they miss out on
