    (((((Dear Fearnotruth22)))),

You said: " The Bible is a book to be proved, "

    Says who?

Anything requiring belief or faith MUST have a basis, except for the fool that swallows any nonsense.

By defenition belief or faith is separate from scientific proof.

That is what the book study "Is the Bible really the word of God" was all about,

I don't go by what man says, but I go by what the Bible says instead!

    evidebce.Wt disagrees with you.

And I disagree with the Watchtower.

There can be no belief or faith without factual or proven basis.

How do you prove the existance of God ? - when I say proof, I mean proof on a scientific or logic context bases because that is the only context in which proof can be used.

    belive what you like

I believe in God's Word as is - I don't question the Bible!

Wow...there are a lot of replies to this one. Here is my personal belief on it. Take the example of a loving father and a son. If the son does bad stuff, would the father still love him unconditionally? I think the answer must be yes if did indeed have unconditional love.

If even the son didn't show love for the father, would the father still love the son? Again the answer I think is yes.

I know with my own dad and mom that they love me unconditionally. I have been in some bad trouble and they still love me. I could probably be any kind of a person and they would still love me. In fact, I know that deep down they would. And would they destroy me? No they sure wouldn't.

The deal with God must be the same way I think.

Sorry ComatoseAndChained, you forget that people have barbecued other people because they believed they had the right interpretation of your supposedly inspired book. People have killed others based upon a presupposition that they are right, just like you have a presupposition that you are right.

Just bleating 'it's inspired' won't do. People have died or had their lives ruined over disputes over scripture, and you want your own opinion held up and bowed to? What coinceit!

Because that is what you are doing if you say "The Bible is not a book to be proved ; it's not a scientific treatise where you prove and disprove based on theories and logic. The Bible is a book of Faith and Belief".

What you are effectively saying is "I will ignore all the signs that this book was made up by Bronze Age pastoralists as a "Mien Kamp' for the invasion of what is now Israel, because I am so sure that I am right that facts can be ignored".

How 'modest', how 'meek', how... sad.

You come to us preaching when in fact your heart is so far removed from anything that a real Christ may or may have not preached that you bring the faith and divine person you claim to represent into disrepute.

This isn't about sharing your beliefs with us, this is about you being convinced you are right to the extent you refuse to discuss the possibility that you are wrong to use the Bible in the way that you do.

So, roll-up roll-up; in all of recorded history, you have got it right, we listen to you and we'll be fine, even if you refuse to defend your beliefs in any meaningful fashion.

Yup, god has decided to put the rest of the world right using you, a keyboard, and an Internet connection.

Don't make me laugh; I've met people I admire as Christians, people who (despite my own beliefs) I admire for actually practcing what Jesus is meant to have preached, people who can talk about their beliefs without arrogance or avoidance. Truth need not hide from debate, and that is all you've done really, hide from debate over any question of the Bible's claim to be an inspired book..

What a super-fine-attitude; so at contrast to the Boreans. Do you think if they had investigated scripture and found it false they would have believed? Or that they would refuse to investigate scripture because they were so consumed with self-impoirtance and pride they were convinced that they were right no matter what evidence was produced to the contrary?

Be very very careful; there's posters here you think they are Jesus, or that God talks to them daily. You're so close to becoming that dillusional it isn't funny.

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh to you, but I am very concerned about your future happiness if you allow yourself to be seduced by self-importance and vanity.

(and sticking a smiley at the end of it), is just evasion.

You are basically setting yourself up to believe what you like, as textual interpretation offers infinate subtlty for your own self-deciet to play with. You're on a slippery slope that some people here have slid down; you'll end up a confused mess who is basically so obsessed with proving they are right (which they can;t do) they miss out on

Your unconditional love towards your children and to your fellowman is incomplete love.

Out of everything you posted this bothered me the most AAF. My love for my children is complete, unconditional love. The conditional love in my life is through my ?JW? family. Their love is definitely conditional.

If in fact you are a JW - how many hours did you get to turn in for your field service report for this post? My niece, while playing cards with us, was writing ?letters? to put in Watchtowers in between dealing hands. She put in about 3 hours while playing cards.

Since everyone else seems to have peeked in here, said a few things and left, I guess I'll bite the bullet too, but AAF, you don't need to bother responding to me.........I just want to say what I believe, what makes sense to me. I don't want to be preached at or reasoned with:

I think it's very simple: "Great Spirit" created life.........which came to live throughout the Universe. He gave us no rules to follow other than what our common sense tells us.........altho even that is suspect.........you live on a planet with other sparks of life............take care of it, and have respect for your fellow inhabitants..........if you get greedy, or start to poison your home.........well, you've got serious problems then..................no false promises at all. It all rests on you, it's your responsibility. If you do dumb things well, you're not going to live very long.

Another question, What has religion got to do with God? To be a spiritual person, to do good to others and belong to the human race is the most divine thing a person can do. I don't need a religion or some old book to tell me what to do.
