The idea that Buzz Aldrin never went into space is utter nonsense.

    -

I never said that, I said they never got all the way to the moon. I don’t think humans have ever been that far from earth. Do you really know how far it is to the moon? I don’t believe humans have ever been that far from earth ever

See Fact Check: No, Buzz Aldrin did not say the moon landing was a hoax (usatoday.com) . It says in part the following.

    'But the claim is false.

A review of Aldrin's full comments reveals he was saying that there was no "scariest moment" during the mission, not that the moon landing "didn't happen." The full clip shows him talking extensively about the details of the mission. ...

The clip featured in the Instagram post was taken from a Q&A Aldrin did at the Oxford Union in March 2015.

The Union describes itself as "the world's foremost debating society," but there's no debating whether the moon landing happened. NASA, museums, newspapers and libraries house a trove of information about the mission. This includes an array of documents, photos, videos and rock samples. ...

The full video of the event, which can be found on YouTube, shows that while Aldrin initially said "it didn't happen" in response to the question about the "scariest moment," he was not referring to the mission itself. Upon further prompting, he recounts how at one point while on the moon he discovered a broken circuit breaker on the floor of the lunar module. The Instagram video cuts off these remarks. '

    Yes please do

    Okay.

Since you have provided three different wordings of the statement (Plus the claim that he thought the microphone was off) I'm going to insist that you provide a source.

Specifically, which interview are we talking about? Date, place and event would be nice.

Indy - Beware of taking the lunatic fringe path. From one didlow cult to another. Just saying.

Your 'boots' picture is missing the Lunar Overshoes that were worn.

Like so much these conspiracy mental cases publish, they deliberately miss bits out. Don't pay attention to them, Indy.

    Okay,

The first (1.34) clip is from the September 5, 2015 National Book Fair interview in Washington DC

Here is the full session with the little girl, Zoey in context:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4UP6nRMuGs&t=430s

    Here is the relevant exchange:

Zoey - Why has nobody been to the moon in such a long time?

Aldrin - Ha...That's not an eight-year-old's question; that's my question; I want to know, but I think I know. (pause) Because we didn't (pause) go there and that's the way it happened and, and if it didn't happen, it's nice to know why it didn't happen so in the future if we want to keep doing something we need to know why something stopped in the past that we wanted to keep going. Uh....money..is a good thing. If you want to buy new things, new rockets instead of doing the same thing over, it's going to cost more money and other things need more money too. So having achieved what the President wanted us to do and then what thousands, millions of people in America and millions of people around the world...You know when we toured around the world after we came back...the most fascinating observation were signs that said, "We did it" --not just use, not just America, but we, the world, different countries. They felt like they were part of what we were able to do and that made us feel very good.

    ----------

I think its abundantly obvious in context that Aldrin is talking about the period following the Apollo program. NASA went off in an entirely different direction (A reusable Space Shuttle)

There's a hulluva difference between saying we didn't go back to the moon because we didn't and that's just the way it is versus saying we never went there at all and it was all a hoax.

The latter can't be squared with Aldrin's mention of the money a new moon program would cost or his emotional recollection of the We Did It! signs (Which actually were a thing) or his statement that we achieved what the President wanted us to do or his response to other questions in the interview. (e.g. Weren't you a little scared going to the moon?)

I'd also add that you are citing Flat Earth sources. I'm hoping you haven't gone down that rabbit hole too.

what are your comments on the second example where Buzz admits it was animation?

Aldrin's comment needs to be assessed in the context of "why something stopped" (His words) and Zoey's question, which was why nobody had been to the moon in a long time

Anything less is JW style dishonesty

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you weren't alive at the time and don't remember the animations (?)
