I'm so sorry this has happened to you guys. I remember the one time we were robbed, I felt violated. It made me angry at the thought of a stranger wandering around our house.
Just be aware that sometimes they come back. Protect yourselves and keep safe.
I know when paradise comes im jumping in a spaceship to get away from all crazy people on this planet. Hell, I'll be living for ever anyway! I'll come back in 1,000 years for the last "test" and then get going to outer space again!

I am so sorry this happened to you! This just seems to be the worst year for you and your family! This is truly the last thing you needed to have happen. I feel so badly for you.
For what it is worth, I've been "burglared" a few times myself, and it is such an awful feeling. As others on this thread have mentioned, there is such a feeling of being "violated" when this happens. I think there is also an element of feeling as if our sense of safety has been eroded as well. I know that this supposedly "safe" town that I live in - there has only been one murder here in the past century (really!) - took on a whole new feeling to me when my car was broken into while sitting in my driveway. It just seems as though the whole world is being taken over by thugs! For you, it has to be especially difficult because of all the other strains you've been under.
I hope you don't end up having to pay much out of your pocket because of this, and I also hope you're holding up well with taking care of your mother. When you have time, would you mind letting us know how you are all doing?

I have (or HAD) a little sealable food dish that I use to bring lunch to work. The other day I washed it after lunch and left it on the kitchen counter to dry... when I came back it was gone.
Sure... it only cost a few dollars... but it is still disappointing to have a co-worker steal something.
Elsewhere -
Document it!!! It could be "the boss" trying to intimidate you to quit!!!
P.S. Did you get my note about harassment in the workplace on your other thread?!
Okay! Not trying to hijack the thread here! Back to what y'all were doing!
What a bugger!
We've even had plants stolen out of the front garden. It's absolutely infuriating and makes you suspicious of everyone for a while.
Englishman.
Sorry Mulan - how maddening.
My parents were robbed about a year ago, someone actually came in the house while they were in bed, Its scares me to think about what could of happened if they had woken up and gone downstairs, and the thought of someone snooping through all your things.
Hi Mulan & Dave,
Terribly sorry to hear about this - although you can count your blessings it wasn't worse!
Claire and I got burgled years ago. Came home to find a window wide open. There was stuff strewn all over the floor and a cabinet got rifled. There was a big footprint on the bed. Claire burst into tears when she found her engagement ring box on the floor, opened and empty..............before she realised the ring was on her finger
The thieves pinched most of MY records (Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, etc) and left most of Claire's (obviously they had good taste). They also stole my stereo equipment and loaded it into a holdall we'd left in the room. The police actually caught them in a pub due to their trying to sell our gear to make money for drugs. The stereo equipment came back damaged and my Dylan records had all been sold.
Yes, it's a terrible feeling. One of being violated. To thieves it's an easy way to make a quick buck - but they leave damaged hearts behind, which cannot be compensated for.
Thinking of you both.
Lots of love,
Ian & Claire
Oh No!
What a violation of ones private space.
Theives need castration.
My cousin, female, lives outside of Toronto.
Someone robbed her place.
Oddly enough, somehow his 'fingerprints' were found around the apartment.
He was arrested and released.
She saw him in his car, at a stop light.
She went over, smashed the window and proceeded to punch his head in. She busted his face in pretty good.
Typical MacLeod behaviour. Again, the police were called, but for a different reason, and he tried to have her charged. The police there, were familiar with 'him', and basically escorted my screaming cousin away from the scene.
The charges against her were dropped; numbnuts, was charged, and spent some time in jail.
He stays clear of her neighbourhood.
