    Do,

I don't think you are a hypocrite. I think it takes a lot of guts to read here and then even more to post, when still inside the org. You are in an awakening process and I thank you for having the courage to come here and post. It has helped me for one to read your story and thoughts.

Your progress is not static. You already realize your days as an elder are numbered because you cannot throw yourself into ideas you don't support or believe in.

Please DO NOT stop coming here, reading and posting. It does a lot of us good to see someone like you waking up and hearing your thoughts on the matter. Thank you, thank you for your posts. Besides, I don't know anyone who isn't some percentage a hypocrite. Like Brummie says, it's highly underated.

Hang in there in your determination not to give those damaging "Do more talks." I sent you a PM. I hope the info in it will prove helpful to you.

Come back and post soon. I look forward to it.

    Heather

I came here for 2 years as an active JW, my husband for one. It took me 10 years to leave after I realized how deep the hypocrisy and deception went. How long were any of us in before we woke up. Many years.

The sooner you do, the better. If you think you will do great hanging here and serving Jehovah at the same time, you are wrong. Many here are JW-haters. You are an elder for sake. I wonder how you can sleep at night.

Many of us have cut ties with the WTS short of DAing ourselves. We still have trouble sleeping at night.

This isn't like quitting a job that requires you to steal or lie. This isn't like leaving any typical organization that has been shaken by scandal, ie Enron, Martha Stewart, etc. This is a way of life that we at one time believed was directed by God. This is a way of life that if we try to leave, there will be repurcussions, usually in the form of losing family and friends. For many, an outright declaration that they will not tolerate being associated with the WTS is the preferred method. For many others, a slow, deliberate fading away gives them the freedom they wish for without losing the family ties they wish to retain. Before coming to the point of choosing one of those different paths that lead to freedom from the WTS grip, people go through a variety of emotions and thoughts. It takes time to assimilate the amount of information that goes directly against what we have been taught was the truth for years and sometimes a lifetime. It takes time to de-program. Until that time, people will have different ideas on how to cope and to grow. After a while though, they do realize that they cannot remain an active member and hope to aid in any kind of reformation. Give him time. He needs to deal with this in his own time and way. If he is honest, he will eventually do the best thing for himself and his family.

For who? For you? Like someone else said, you don't know all the details nor are you living his life. Let him do it as he sees fit in his own time. His decision to stay today may change next week. I'd think since we're all familiar with living according to someone else's standards that we'd be more sensitive to not pushing ours onto others that are experiencing the ills of the Borg.

Dothemath, go at your own pace, thats the only way you will feel comfortable when you arrive where you are heading to.

Besides, people who move to quick send me giddy

Dothemath----I understand why some might not give you much wiggle room because of your statement, but the truth is nearly ALL of us couldn't picture leaving our family and friends. We play mental games to try to stay on foe whatever reason...Been there, done that. You remind me of me. For years, I KNEW this wasn't the "truth" but stayed on until I was ready! When YOU are ready, they'll be singing, "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now!"

I USED TO BE INDECISIVE, NOW I JUST CAN'T MAKE UP MY MIND...

Welcome to the fence brother! You and I both are now what the ones at my hall deem "fence sitters", not on one side or the other. Difference is, I haven't been to a meeting for almost a year now, and I haven't really decided whether or not to go back yet. The more discrepancies I see, the more irritated I get. As an example:

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. For years she knew she was going to get it, as all of her sisters and her mother had it, losing all but 2 of her siblings to the disease. She started giving money to breast cancer research, but was warned by the elders that this was incorrect, a disease could only be fought by Jah, and she was supporting mans' way of handling problems. So the charity stopped, and approx. 2 months later she was diagnosed. Here we are a year later, and the cancer is all but gone, after a rigorous and exhausting regimen of chemotherapy, radiation, and double radical masectomy. The brothers in her hall praised the doctors who worked with mom, and mom in turn accepted the fact that without modern medicine, she would have surely died as her mother and 5 sisters had. Once again she started giving money to fight cancer, and AGAIN was admonished against doing so, as she puts it "the money I was giving to research I was told could better be used within the organization" (as if WTBS has a research center somewhere).

A mind is a terrible thing to waste, yet even more terrible is a mind that fights with a consciensce.

    Stop coddling him.

If you really want to preach TRUTH then get up there next time and proclaim thr REAL TRUTH you know about WATCHTOWER DECEPTION AND LETHAL POLICIES. Not to mention the child abuse epidemic in your precious org.

Get up there and start naming the dead members and children of members who were 'killed' by WTBTS POLICIES.

Why not shock the entire cong and TAKE A CLEAR STAND!

SF that is an unwise thing to do.I know folks who killed themselves on finding out it was false. Let them come to TRUTH at their OWN pace. We are not all at the same place in the road & the road is long & hard . Just my 2cents worth
