I have met a wonderful man but unfortunately he is a JW. I have never been interested or really ever been around any religion in my life so all of this right now is very fascinating to me. I have been thinking of studying to become one but am also having a hard time finding anything on the net that is positive about it. JW?s of course will just say it is because the truth and so many are against it. Can anyone honestly tell me if I am just better off staying as I am. I have a wonderful life as it is , have my own house at 26, a good job, a normal loving family, no childhood issues, I am just a normal woman really. So , if fascinated by it because of this man, is it a good idea to start studying and get baptised next year? No, sorry, but you don't know what you are getting into,
you said " a normal living family", great , but the JW's will expect you to give them up because they do not believe in the religion. Are you willing to stop talking to your parents and brothers and sisters unless they become JW's.
you sound like a very independent and successful WOMAN, woman are treated like garbage by the religion, cannot give talks, cannot give prayers, cannot have responsibility in the congregation, basically , stay home shut up, be in subjection to your husband, and let him make decisions.
if you want to study and be baptized so be it, but do it because YOU believe in the religion, YOU believe it is right, YOU are convinced they is no better place to be, but DO NOT do it for somebody else.
Are you willing to have children and they will NEVER be allowed to celebrate a birthday, or Christmas or Halloween, or have friends who are not JW's, could you look you children in the eye and say, "too bad it is wrong to do these things", put them through hell at school, have them rebel and hate you later in life, tough questions, but reality.
