Congratulations!
Steve told me on the phone today that I should go to this thread and read and heed the advice he gave Simon. After reading it, I have to agree that it's a splendid idea!
So Simon, can you please ask Angharad when she'd like me to pick her up?

I hear that with the IT hiring in government, certification and education counts for lots. My guess this is because the average joe manager hasn't a clue to tell a good computer guy from a dud. So he relies on the papers. So good for you, Simon. Brings you one step closer to my beloved country.
Very cool that Angharad is interested in geological stuff. There must be some demand for that hereabouts with the oil industry and all. Can she find me a diamond mine when she is done?
Good for you, Simon!
So where are you taking Angharad again?

If I had a Mac or knew anyone who had a Mac or even knew where there was an office that had a Mac in it ... then I would have a look at things but I'm afraid I'm a bit restricted. I did see a sign with "Mac ... only £2.99" on it but it turned out to be a Big Mac and the keyboard looked like a pile of fries.
Is there any type of emulator available? I remember my old Atari ST had a Mac emulator available for it ...
Gee ... I guess I have to take her out or else I'll never hear the last of it !!
Simon, congrats!
that is no easy task....good for you.
My husband is trying to get his company to help finance his tests and study materials so he can get that certification as well. The company wants to be certified as a MS Cert Solutions Provider, so I guess they need a few MCSDs on board to do that.
Way to go.....that certainly is a great thing to add to your resume!
Yes, if you can get the company to bankroll it - so much the better !
I didn't bother with any training (couldn't afford it!) but used the MS Study Guides and the Transcender trial exams which were pretty good. I resell the Study Guides after I've passed the exams so they don't end up costing too much. Unfortunately, you can't resell the Transcenders and, of course, you have to pay the cost of the exams (~ £100) but that's an incentive to study and not fail !
BTW: I found it better to book the exam first / set a date rather than study till I thought I was ready and then look at booking one as often slots aren't available for weeks or even months at the test centre you want. I know it's a little thing but I liked going to the same one each time (one less thing to worry about) and even got to sit in the exact same seat for each one. Just helps with the routine.
the husband will have to do that or he will NEVER take the test...set the date,,,,and cram a few weeks before hand hahah.
Simon, Good grief you are brilliant! Does this mean that you and Angahard will be moving to Seattle?
Great Work
