No effect. But, since I?m of the ?swine class? it wouldn?t affect me anyway.

I expect it to have about as much an effect as discovering that the Earth was not the center of the universe. Those who want to believe are going to believe no matter what.

    Gumball,

Why don't you quit screwing around with these stupid questions and just tell us all what it's like to be from Mars? You're not fooling anyone pal. Just look at your avatar.

Fess up and just tell us all about your home. Did you guys have an Adam and Eve like we did or are you just now completely evolved into red dirt?

According to the Drake equation, there is more likely to be life on other planets then not. The math isn't all that complex to follow. Ya just never know pal. If a person can believe in talking snakes, life on other planets should be an easy concept to accept.

Hey Gumby, I've booked my flight, I'm gonna interview these Marziiies and get their thoughts on humans. On second thoughts, I'll stay here and save time + money because I already know the answer.

Won't change my faith at all.
Every artist I've heard from, create more then one object - thus why should God be limited to Earth alone ?

Imagine that he did create Earth,
but that he started with Mars - just practicing for the great job....

this is more just a viewpoint than a direct anwer to the post, but if you believe in god or angels or demons you already believe in extraterrestrial life don't you? they're the same thing just depends what angle you let yourself you look at it. mars isn't the issue.

Big deal if they do, so to speak. Sure, it would be interesting, but it would only be bacteria. Whoopee.

Whose faith, and faith in what?

I am sure that all good dubs would ask the society, and they might find this quote from "Things in which it is Impossible for God to Lie" studybook 1965. it is not on the 2001 cdrom, my memory worked for once :-

"To all eternity our earth will bear a distinction such as no other planet throughout endless space will enjoy. To all eternity, throughout all creation it will be a glorious showpiece to Jehovahs praise. Not that it will be the only planet that will ever be inhabited but that it will be the only planet to which the creator of all good things sent his only begotten Son .........."

Personally speaking, I would just be curious.

BTW The probe has not been located yet, as far as I know, so we might have to wait a bit longer to find out.

People will continue to believe what they want to believe and what makes them feel good regardless of any evidence to the contrary they are presented with. They will just twist the facts to suit them....didn't your time with the dubs teach you that? New light dude, new light!

On a personal level, I do believe in some type of higher power and this belief would only be heightened by finding life on other planets. Heck if I had the power I would be spawning stuff all over the place, wouldn't you?? How boring would it be just having earth to watch and keep track of????
