This subject came up with my mother yesterday. She is in her late 70's. She adamantly refuses blood. I have helped her when she's had to go to the hospital and as her son, have always told her that I would always follow her wishes----even if I felt that it was wrong. I still feel this way even though I would recieve blood in the event of an emergency.........Would YOU give blood or for that matter any medical procedure under force?

    Yes I would...

especially if it was a young person..

However,.. I would not force a blood transfusion on my mother... She is older now and has the right to make that decision on her own...

I might though, if there was time,, and she was conscious.. try to convince her to take the blood transfusion.

What is it about our mothers Minimus?.. They seem to be our hangup.....

    sincerely

No..............my brother and I have decided that if Mom ever has that issue come up, we will respect her wishes. I am not forcing my beliefs on anyone.

The only time I might have made this an issue would have been with a grandchild, but now all our children and their mate are out of the JW's and there is no blood issue in our family.

No - never against somebody's wishes unless there were some extraordinary circumstances which I can not just think of at this moment.

depends how much I loved them. If it was someone I couldn't live without I would do it without a second thought, if a blood transfusion would have kept my mother alive I would have signed the form and kept the dubs out with shotgun if necessary.

It depends on the circumstances. For a person under 18..they're getting blood...others...maybe...if it's a sin I'm the one committing it...not them.

I believe that if a minor child was involved, I'd have a different view, recognizing that they are not capable of knowing all the facts and making the wisest of decisions. Esentially, though, if someone wants to have a certain type of medical care or no care at all, it's up to them.
