you only get one life, how many of us here have come out of the dubs as adults and come to the conclusion that we would take blood now if we needed it?
If it would save a persons life I would do it and give them the chance to never speak to me again, at least then the choice wasn't on their conscience and they can have a second chance
This is an interesting question. I can't help but think about how many trauma patents will become combative when the paramedics and doctors try to treat them. They will kick and scream and fight trying to prevent the medical personnel from helping them. It's just a bizarre instinct that we have in us.
I still don't know ...
but I agree not against they're will
As a mother, it was just a real struggle to fight against nor for. I didn't know how to work that out ! (most over because we didn't know the final result ! - as they told me he could die anyway from a septic choc ! 1 died because of that while he was their) ... So ... what's the best then ? ... but at the end you just can't stand it anyway ! (Maybe I was just lucky that I was as much undoctrinated than Anthony !)
I would like to say that I takes a lot of courage to let go ... And I feel for those who was still too much undoctrinated to be able to eventually save their kid(s). I know they just couldn't help ... it was all about hope, and love ...
No. As a nurse in a critical care unit I have been faced with that situation. I refused to go against my patients wishes re the transfusion of blood and requested that that patient be transferred to another nurse's care who did not have a problem doing so, after I got into an arguement with the family members. In the instance of a child, hospitals have lawyers who will not hesitate to go before a judge and get a court order forcing transfusion for little ones. Luckily, I have never had to face that situation as I do not do children's critical care. I also have a problem with family members who refuse to honor their parents or loved one's wishes regarding mechanical ventilation or extra-ordinary measures to prolong one's life. Forcing "life saving" treatments on people who have no wish to avail themselves of these measures is cruel and inhumane. There is nothing more heart breaking than having to care for someone who is tied down to a bed (to keep them from pulling all of the equipment off and out) with tubes stuck in every orifrice imaginable, pleading with their eyes for you to stop, when the sedation wears off or they regain temporary consciousness. Luckily not many of these people are aware that they are being tortured during their last days on this earth, at the requests of their "loved ones". Many a night I have prayed to God to "speak" to the family and allow them to see that dying is not the worst that can happen to someone. Dying by inches is a horrible way to die and no one should be forced to have to die this way so that some family member can assuage his or her guilt over real or imagined neglectful behavior on the family members part.
To a child, yes. To an adult, I'm not sure. On the one hand they have the right to choose for themselves. On the other hand they are making a choice based on mind control... so it's not really a choice they are making anyway.
My gynecologist told me this once about the blood doctrine - "Well I'll honor your request until you're bleeding almost to death and but I am not going to let you die over that stupid religion!"
Tres, I wish I had your gynocologist. Um, wait a minute. Forgetaboutit!
Elamona..
You have given a Picture in my mind of something I hope I never have to experience or see..
Insightful post, thanks.... A make you stop and think post.

Most seem to feel it would be wrong to FORCE blood on a person that is of age and sound mind.
