Sorry, wasn't trying to hijack your thread...just had a brainfart about what Gary said. Your comments are insightful. I truly believe they'll continue to lose the "smarter" or maybe, less isolated ones. The ones who have little contact with the outside world will continue to swallow Mother's garbage as they have nothing else because Mother does not allow it. I guess in all reality, I am HOPING the "smarter" ones will get out, as I have some loved ones left in there.

There must be SOME reason that the world isn't perfect and doesn't have all its problems solved. The Bible simplifies it... we all are enemies of God until we reconcile with him! That reconciliation takes various forms, depending on the cult/religious group you hear. Some say "just believe Jesus" and you'll be saved, others say "do all the work we demand and have faith in our complicated doctrines, and probably you may be saved in the day of Jehovah's wrath".

Yet the same Bible says God loves mankind.

And it also says that if you do all the things required of you, you should say "Oh it's nothing. I'm just a good-for-nothing slave."

Christians must love being humiliated.

I quit drinking and shortly afterward was astonished that I looked at things a lot differently. One of the things I looked at differently was "the truth," which is why I am not doing THAT anymore. I recognize that many people still drink, and some of them really shouldn't. But they don't see it that way.

I think it's a lot like that with respect to people who are still "in." They haven't had that paradigm shift yet, that revelation that sheds new light on their old thinking. So they aren't going to budge. We, on the other hand, are often like people at an AA meeting. We can't believe we used to do that stupid sh** and can't figure out why other people keep doing it.

As to whether there is a trickle or a flood of people coming out of the organization, I think the simple answer is: It's the ones whose eyes get opened, one way or another. THEY leave. It probably won't be a lot of people; it may be more tomorrow than it was yesterday, but I do not expect a flood.

Of course, I could be wrong.

Christianity seems masochistic Goph, picking up your torture stake, enduring, self sacrifice, etc All those things that normal people dont want to go through, but xtians are supposed to be joyful and look foward to these things all religions too. Man I dont want to live my life like that. I never did. Imagine looking foward to a gt where one is going to be tortured and God is going to aloow it, with no guarantee of salvation. I jus want to be happy now. If "God" or more accurately as you say THE CREATOR has something better for me latter Ill take that too later. I enjoy reading all comments and points views. By your comments Goph, I see that you are on the ball and so is garybuss. You guys are sharp thinkers in my opinion. Out of the box and and just looking at things with an open mind, and not with a certain mind set.

It is a real pleasure being able to look at things from different perspectives and express and listen to diverse viewpoint without fear.

I agree with Gopher's original post. While I studied with the JWs, a few of them admitted to having doubts at one point. Because the JWs offer "perks" such as millions of friends world wide, a united congregation, true love withint the congregation, etc., they are afraid to go back out into the world, where everything is more gray and uncertain.

As for me, I couldn't stand their arrogance. I strongly disagree with the notion that baptized JWs are a cut above everyone else. Although they don't come out and say that, if you read between the lines, you will catch some elitist vibes. Also, I noticed the JWs have a caste system. They have unbaptized members, who have significanly less privelages than baptized. Even among baptized members, there is a ranking system. Pioneers are announced every Thursday and receive a round of applaus. Only the "annoited 144,000" are allowed to participate in ~~confusion~~ communion.

A very interesting thread, aside from the above. Can't agree with that at all. I do believe the end of this system is on it's way, but I do not necessarily agree that one body of people will be the sole survivors.

Polution is a major factor within the scheme of degradation. The arms race ' is not ' slowing down. Technology advances yet lays waste to vast tracts of land. Love amongst the general population is diminishing in an outwards sense (for the main part). God no longer exists in the minds of the masses. The new God of evolution leading to the worship of the material realm has come to the forefront. etc etc etc
