I'm pretty sure I would have (even not for a friend), because I have repeatedly taken such a stance in other contexts (work for instance), even to my personal loss. I'm rather contemplative generally, but an injustice can wake me up and make me an efficient adversary. Just I didn't come across an obvious injustice in the WT when I was there. Had I, I would probably have been out earlier.

i've stuck up for multiple people because nobody else would. i've stuck up for my father when my mother wouldn't, i've stuck up for my g/f when nobody else would, and i've stuck up for friends at the congregation that would otherwise be walked on...

You know I think most people would stick up for a friend, it's pretty much human nature to do that. But the real question is would you stick up for someone you don't like if you saw an injustice being done to them?

I see a friend being treated unjustly, I shout my mouth off and the consequences can go hang.

Yep, that about sums me up too! (Claire always complains: "Why is it always YOU who shoots the bullets?"). Why? Because I HATE injustice with all my soul!

I didn't have much opportunity, before I became an Elder.
Afterwards I became a burr in the ass of some of my more judgemental "colleagues".
I've always hated injustice, even though my views on what constituted "right n wrong" might have been more than a little skewed by my previous beliefs.

I have, do, and will, stick up for friends, and others, when I see injustice.

I am able to stand up for my friends much quicker than I can for myself! Don't ask me why............but, I can't stand to see anyone being treated unjustly. As far as the comments you made about being kicked out of cliques, etc............I was the one being kicked, I never fit in with the mainstream Dubs.........even tho my husband was an elder............

I helped a sister who was troubled by an elder.

Rick, Welcome! And, I had a friend who was a single woman, very beautiful, who was propositioned by an elder in our congregation..........she came to me in tears, and I told her that what she had been subjected to was sexual harrassment and it was inexcusable! So, we went to MY husband, also an elder, and told him. He called a meeting and this guy was dealt with. He ended up being removed as an elder, but, his wife blamed my friend. It was awful, because his wife was one of the sweetest, mature women in our congregation........but, old Frank had a wandering eye and thought himself quite the ladie's man.........even tho he was older than dirt and should have known better.................it made me sad that his wife had been hurt by his behavior, also. He was a real loose cannon............I could tell lots of stories!

One of the reasons I started hated being an elder was because of how elders felt they were really above the law, the people in the congregation, themselves. It's very comforting to know that we're no longer living under the "theocracy" of the Witnesses!
